Also I guess everyone is now used to the design as it is. The model you posted looks incredible for sure, but unless every single weapon gets such a redesign it wouldn't fit the Warhammer univers IMO.

metal, i'm pretty sure they started as metal. still looked really weird. the other thing is that it was all judge dread based and judge dread has huge guns as well.

So, I'm the only who thinks that all the bolter designs (Bolter, Bolt Pistol, Storm Bolter) design are correct?
I mean, have in mind the 40k lore: lots of knowledge lost, technological regression...If you are going to equip an army of OP super-soldiers with servoarmors which are going to conquer the entire universe with hundred of thousands worlds, each one with their different ecosystem and the rest of stuff... are you going to equip your army with stylized good-looking weapon? No, you are going to equip your army with simple, brutal but efficient weapons, without unnecessary details.
For the Dark Gods love, you have in your hands a fucking grenade-launcher which can turn all your enemys into flying chunks of meat. Are you going to give a fuck if your weapon is beautiful or ugly?
Ok, I have to admit that the default bolter design it's not very beautiful. But for me it's not bad at all.
And Dark Gods, I NEVER like the TT miniatures. I've always found them a little malformed.

The thing is we don't know if the details are there and we just can't see them or if the design is just so simple. At least I don't know.

What I mean is the Spess in them books use it like a battle rifle that fires anti-materiel class projectiles over medium long range but the design is retarded, impossible to aim and ridiculously short barrel, it's more like a grenade launcher you could only use at shotgun range (because you couldn't fucking hit a Carnifex with that silly gun)...

But Bolters arent made for people like you and me.
They are made for highly trained superhumans in Powerarmour with Aim Assisting Soft and Hardware installed into their helmets, brains and/or eyes.
A Marine doesnt have to lay on his belly and aim down an iron sight.
Their weapons have to be able to work no matter what athomsphere or gravity and has to be tough enough to survive a grip that can bend iron or beeing bashed into the hardened chitin of an alien creature like a club.
What the heck would a Space Marine supposed to do with a gun like this?

Not sure if chink is the right term so apologies if it's not.

Right now there are other things I'm working on. There's the new Bolter for Apo and the FC redesign already in progress. Then I may be working on the Vindicare Assassin. Depends on if it gets into the game. And the MC Bolter for TM newly added will probably be remade into a Stalker Bolter.
So far I don't have plans for after I finish all that stuff so Fire Dragons are a possibility. BTW I'm not sure if the bits for WL I made will be added but we'll see (they were in the beta preview).
I also plan to make a new thread with all my visual additions once I finish the Apo Bolter. So any possible requests will be there to post.

Yes... lets try not to use racial slang please.

So that's definitely not what I had in mind.
But this is the thing the gun reminded me of.

Haven't asked Caeltos but we've had that on the Santa Claus wish list for a long while so I'd say 99% yes it will.

Well, Chink is a derogatory term used to describe Chinese People, but because the racist folks that use it can't tell the difference between Asiatic peoples, it became a generic catch-phrase insult for all Asians. Which, coincidentally, was most used (in popular media and in real life) during the vietnam war by the Americans.

Chink as in 'chink in the armor' is legit English though.

I'll see what I can do then. It took me about 3 months to make the reapers so I'm guessing 3 months for this guy too. Sometime around Christmas. We'll see.

For some totally illogical reason, the scope on the MCB makes me want to use it more even though I'm not that fond of the weapon.
It looks great. Nice work

David-CZ:
To help with your modelling work.......
There are some IG models found in the Chaos rising campaign that could be nice templates for a vindicare. The artillery spotters (first Chaos rising mission) in general would be good (just take away their backpack, give them a bigass rifle, and recolor them shiny black.)
I don't know if it is legal or even possible to use models from CR though. Just thought it could save you some time.

I actually quite look forward to making an entire new model like this. Thanks for a tip though. I'll use the combination of what's already in the game in case of making a temporary model.

Magos: With the name I did write please, which is not a must.
David: Thanks for your message about that 3d bolter, it is a nice one and looks like something in the modern shooter games now a days.
Power armoured guys are not going to carry autoguns but there are newer variants of the bolter out there.
Looking at some of those designs "could" inspire progression.
So here is a video on whats your favorite bolter?
