the big issue is that it basically gives tele commanders a free leg up on the initiative.
it forces the opponent to be reactionary from the word go which is inherently a disadvantageous position to be in.
and you can argue that the opponent can simply keep the tele commander down there and double top with the rest of the army. or keep them hanging in the middle to counter your movement to join your top player.
plus the map is tiny and promotes setting up arty in your base which can conveniently hit the middle and bottom vic. gotta love those back of base manticores and d-cannons of yore. it also makes flanking more difficult because the base turrets are right there.
I dont really like maps where the bases are too close to the actual combat zones .
