Ok so finally started playing some multiplayer (my meagre 87 hours played is mostly modding and a few games with mates) and after setting up various games asking for "noobs only" and still getting my ass handed to me for the first few days something clicked or I at least got lucky with a couple of wins today.
Playing sorcerer (I know not a good hero to start with but do watch a lot of casts so tried to remember tips and tactics from there) would be good if people could have a quick look at my last game and offer up some advice on how to refine my play some more.

Also, don't know if any of the current casters do "noob games" any more but I remember watching Rupee's series of those and thought they were pretty entertaining and useful - so if anyone has the time and is feeling generous...
Cheers

Re: Sterling's Replays
I would be very interested to look when I can, as I consider myself crap (550 hours does wonders to improve skill you see-_-).
After watching: Not bad considering your length of play, it just felt like micro was the thing lacking across the board, a lot not moving but micro comes with time. I like the extended tier 1, very nice, most low level players just rush T2 because they love to get vehicles early and always feel pressured that if they don't get there first they will lose, so nice to see the power expendature there. A little much I would say, probably didn't need the Eternal War but you got it. I like the way you used the Sorceror, properly pissing around. Very good. You did well controlling the ASM (mostly because he wasn't very coherent with them). But if you wanted to control them more then buying Robes of Torment to keep them in one place is always nice, really screws big melee builds. When using a melee vehicle, run towards the AV if it is shooting you up close, don't if it is a lascannon from round the corner, that is where tics come in. Unforunately the BC went down because you didn't target the missile launcher tacs. Also, don't blob cap, tempting, but it means less to fight, less to cap.
Also, one gripe I have is: casters. Always the same, we need new ones, not hat I am bored of the current ones, but especially since we don't have much l2p anymore. I do hate it when people mention casters meaning three people.

The internal battery has run dry, the game can now be played. However, clock based events will no longer occur.
Re: Sterling's Replays
Cheers man, yeah when I watched it back I realised how long my Heretics were stood around for not doing anything after capping - if I'd acted quicker would have been able to get a much more complete gen bash I think. Good stuff will remember Robes of Torment for that kind of situation in future.
And it's just easier to say casters than Crazyman, Maestro and Indrid - I know there's other guys who stream but I really think having them up on youtube makes a big difference. Rupee's been making noises about playing DoW again but unfortunately no sign of him yet.

Re: Sterling's Replays
Glad I can help. I notice you popped your head into the beginners group chat yesterday
The builds and micro come with practise, and whilst there are certain builds to counter others, play how you like, if it works for you do it, don't force yourself into something you cannot use.
And when I complain about "casters" I am complaining not because of those three, but because we just don't have any new ones who can actually cast beginners games. The attention threshold for a beginners game is very low, but it isn't about attention it is about getting advice tot he people who need it. I would like it if there was someone new around and we weren't all defaulting to a small group of people to send replays to or a small group of people with ability to stream games. It makes it hard for people, both the ones streaming and those wanting them to stream. I currently still need streamers for BT4 but getting people is hard since the ones who I know can are often busy or don't want to cover the event, leaving the options rather diminished. Hard for them because they are also expected to keep on streaming.

Re: Sterling's Replays
Jump and Teleport negates Robes of Torment FYI...
Use them if you are facing a melee blob or to prevent the enemy from kiting you. I usually get Robes for either one of these two situations.
1 troll way of using RoT is by following it up with either
A) Curse of Tzeetch (Esp if they're blobbed up cause of stairs etc)
B) Sigil of the Rift (For those key units)
C) Doombolts (Same as A)
D) Fire Global thingy (Same as A)
And if IIRC, Knockbacks, be they from a weapon or ability, 'free' a unit from the RoT's ability. So be careful.

You may have seen it happen actually. This doesn't happen often obviously, but if the chains of torment are released as the jump is happening, it looks like jump troops are breaking free from chains (it especially looks like that if the chains are released at the very beginning of the jump).
Otherwise, Riku is right.
