BT#5 2v2 tournament, feedback from potential players wanted.

After receiving some feedback by players that they would like a 2v2 tournament, TGZero and I have thought to make the next Beginners Tournament a 2v2 event. This however comes with more organisational problems, though nothing you should concern yourself with. I had the feeling it could be hosted early November so there are no conflicting dates with the Monthly Rumble Tournament.
The current plan goes as follows:
- 2v2 tournament for sixteen (16) teams of 2
- Each round is a best of three except the final which is a best of five
- Entry is on an honesty basis
- Players can either apply in set teams or be allocated a randomly selected applicant if they both have no teammate
- Current plan is due to the length of past tournaments, play the first round on the first day, with the rest on the second day i.e. Friday then Saturday
Current plan is due to the length of past tournaments, play the first round on the first day, with the rest on the second day i.e. Friday then Saturday
This is probably the most important aspect that we need feedback on.
More updates in the future. Happy hunting.

Sounds fine for me atm, but not sure what my schedule will be like. We always have a couple of dropouts due to some last minute thing they need to take care of. Having your teammate bail on you is harder to fix than in a 1v1 tournament.
We'll see.

The first thing I'd be worried about is getting enough bodies for this 2 v 2 Tournament. At first, if you get the right amount of people you would need an additional amount of reservists just in case the dropouts come in droves. In this case, I'd get the math right before you start making up the format for this, before how many brackets, what maps and so forth.
Beyond that, I'd say go for it: beginners or what not, its just going to make players understand each other in how they play. In any case I'd jump in pending I don't have work on the dates set.

But this is a universal problem, there will always be drop outs and I do organise everything beforehand, I have done it twice before I am not a complete idiot. The problem with player count is more concerning however, as you rightly pointed out, the number of players I can realistically get is often different to the number I actually get. I expect drop outs, I know there will be a lack of reserves, it unfortunately means at least one team will get a free win, I want to avoid this but it may be unavoidable.

Techinally...........
You can't play.

Because you won the first tournament.
But since it is not 1v1, I suppose I can allow you

It's a beginners tournament, so.... Yeah. I'd say its even encouraged for players who don't think they're very great to enter

I'm curious if anyone had thought of the idea to combine the MRT players with the beginners.
I know there are a few elitists who would probably detest the idea but I like leaning more towards of offering the beginners a chance to play with people they wouldn't have thought they'd play against or with.
Even having the MRT guys get allocated a number (hopefully it would be as discreet as possible) and the beginners would select that number and see who their partner is. This would prevent everyone jumping on Noisy's fat penis immediately and be a bit more fair...at least for the selection process.
Just an idea.

Noisy's fat penis...
What the Face Commander?
@Phatiiii Sounds like an interesting idea to trial, though I see quite a few high level beginners (if such were a thing) try their hand at MRTs anyway, but if some people were willing to try what you propose I am all for integrating the communities.

I'm up with a friend to compete if it's happen.
Mixing the pros with the noobs is an interesting idea, could be good and chaotic at the same time.

We would need to get the input of the more advanced players on this one. Are they willing to do this? Are they willing to be the "big brother" in this idea? Or can we expect them to be absolute dicks and kick dirt in the eyes of the beginner's? I want to make this fun, but I can also see a whole lot of frustration on the side of the advanced class.

While I'm on the subject of the tourney. Hey beginners! You guys might wanna start making friends with each other for the upcoming BT. Swift and I are still hammering out the details, but info will be coming soon (hopefully).

Well I suppose I could play in a tournament like that. Provided I am not busy doing school/work/personal stuff.

Ok kids. So registration for this tourney is gonna open in about a week, and here's what we're gonna do. If you already have a team of yourself and another player, then register in a regular fashion by putting down your steam name, steam profile, your choice of three commanders, your partner's name, and a team name if you choose to have one. If you have a partner that already put your info up, you'll need to confirm that you'll be playing with that other player along with your own steam profile.
Example:
TGZero
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198006531765/Chaos Lord, Chaos Sorcerer, Plague Champion
Partner: Swiftsabre
Team Name: Tourney Organizers
Now, Swift jumps on the forums and sees that I put his name as my partner. He will need to confirm or deny that he'll be my partner for this tourney. Note: I can't speak for Swift, but I will not be taking part in this tourney.
Another way we can do it is, if you're too shy to speak with people, or if you just don't have the time to connect with other players, feel free to put your name down anyways. We'll pair you up with another player at random.
Remember kids, registration for this tourney opens up in a week.

Playing with TGZero? I am too good for him!
Ok, bit harsh.

I will not be playing with him, but there you go, if someone puts you down to play and you don't like it, just say no.
(I am playing with Dark Heretic if the tournament date is good).
