I hope that I am not posting this in the wrong area, and if I am I apologize.

What I want to say though is me and a couple of my friends have been playing Elite mod and really want to get more involved in the community. We watch the faction wars on youtube and want to know what we could do to start participating in these games and the such. Mainly just looking for more people to play with.

first to arrange pick-up games that are usually casual in nature join the elite mod chat group

second look for Beginner rumble tournaments if you want to try 1v1 games with other beginners.

make sure you realize that many players have thousands of hours playing the game. Don't get too frustrated with losing. It happens.

1. PLEASE LET PEOPLE KNOW YOUR NEW!!!!!!!!!!
2. Join the steam chat and advertise your "newbie" game
3. Practice 1v1 as much as you can. It is the single best way to focus and practice. team games are so chaotic and you can be attacked by so many different angles and what not. I wouldn't suggest it.
4. After a good 1v1 battle post your replay and some of us can give you tips.
5. stick with one race and try to really understand it.

Also join the beginners' group and try to make some games with them, send friend requests and such.

Please join in anywhere you can and never be afraid to ask for advice, if you don't know something it can be found in the codex (written by our good friend Windu here) or another player will know. Don't get disheartened when losing, we all lose but remember the skill gap between you and whoever you play, so remember, you will get better, you won't notice, but it happens. Good luck.

There are quite a few new players who have joined elite in the last year or so and I frequently see games named "1v1 beginners/3v3 beginners" pop up so you should have some luck just checking the public games list.

The community is relatively small and has a lot of "regulars", so good manners and filling your friend list will be a good way to to get games. When it comes to improving, playing regularly with a dedicated team/2v2 partner and watching cast is a very good start.

Well I have the 2v2 Beginners tournament #5 coming up in October, so if you find a partner or just sign up looking for one when the time comes, you could always get involved that way, I will be ruthlessly looking for participants then since I will need 32 members. (I am not actually ruthless But Codex is giving me mod rights soon so you will know when the tournaments happen). Add me if you wish
