Dawn of War Codex

My friend and I are having trouble connecting to games with each other in it. We can connect to public games well enough and we can connect to each in games that aren't DoW. I was wondering if anyone has encountered this problem and knows how to fix it or if anyone has suggestions to fix the issue?

i would assume it's related to portforwarding. you can find guides online to sort that out if you know what router you have.
