...how I to do it?????
After hit the hotkey for it a little arrow appears and I have to pick the direction - the problem is, every time I do it nothing seems to happen to the enemy unit. is the base of the arrow supposed to be directly under the unit, and the arrow the direction I want to unit flung in?
Thanks for any input!

It's like a ranged merciless strike with no wind-up. I think it does more damage if you target in front of the foe rather than directly on them. Maybe because it knocks them back and then hits them again, or maybe it just misses some squad models otherwise.
The initial arrow is where the warpfire will start from and the directional arrow afterwards is which direction it will flow forward from knocking over and damaging units along the way. Surprising that you haven't used warpfire in last stand

I have problems with that too. Sometimes I land this marker perfectly, yet some squads aren't damaged. My bet is that something wrong with this marker, it doesn't display the real placement. I don't know why but when I put it horizontally I succeed more often.

Wait, but the warpfire here is nothing like the one in last stand. That's why i was confused. This one is just a tiny purple puff of smoke not a row of fire explosions.

I remember it being the same except it did more damage in last stand. It has been a while maybe my recollection is wrong.

Hm, I'll experiment with it a bit more. Honestly though I find the ability a bit underwhelming, probably because I don't really know how to use it.

It does plasma cannon damage which means it is very good vs HI/SHI. Also does full damage to vehicles. And it does full damage on retreat, or at least very close to it.
If you're not convinced that it's an awesome ability, check out this replay:

Thanks fv100!
Going to watch right now. And like I said, I found it underwhelming probably because I'm not using it right. This will help.

The ability only has a radius of 5 so it's fairly easy to miss. You need to be pretty precise.
EDIT: But it's an extremely good ability.

Yes! I discovered after around 5 hours of playing versus the AI! It's excellent. Amazing on retreating units, almost like retreat grenades but instant, and some interesting control as well.
I put up a replay in the replays section where I do some fun things with it.
