I've already posted this on viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1372&start=30 , but I think I'll get more coverage by making a new thread, considering the fact that only a few people have signed up so far.

Sign up now for the 1v1 Fight Club on Sunday 18 Jan 1800 GMT!

Steam group as well as trial rules can be found here: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/EliteKotH#

We've had a few successful informal runs of exhibition matches and now need more players for the official event. All skill levels are welcome. During our trial runs we found that you're almost guaranteed to get a good and relatively even match going, since fighters often organise into roughly even skill groups.

I guarantee you that we're a better matchmaking service than Steam and promise you we're 1000% better than GFWL

So stop playing team games, git gud for 1v1, practice, have fun and get streamed! Sign up now on:

A toast to you Cheekie.

I'm in as well, though don't know if available. I also think that it's perfectly fine for streamers to be a part of the fight club rotation as well. No need to relegate them to obs imo.

well i'll be streaming on the day, and max power is going to do some co-casting with me. you could come too if you want. that is if there is only one lobby up for the exhibitons, if there is more than one then we might need to spread out a little, although i'll have max is tow as i dont trust him to cast and give sane commentary about 1v1s Kappa.

3 co-casters might be a bit much, but yea I'll probably just join the lobby around my skill level and hop on Skype if whoever the streamer is wants company.

Hey, I'll join.

I have reinstalled dow2 after 2-3 years, feels good, I'm still not very familiar with elite mod but I'll slowly learn the changes ;)

Thanks for the show of interest, bruvas!

I'll run a few more ideas on the format of the event. Comment away. Depending on the turnout we might need to split the lobbies into two, into the ELITE and the beginner/intermediate brackets, which will be entirely self elected. If you want to play with the big boys then it's your choice, but if you want to stick with the (relative) kiddie pool it's also your choice. The reasoning for such a proposal is varied:

To make it easier to get a relatively even match going
Stops this from happening all night http://d2tq98mqfjyz2l.cloudfront.net/im ... 355630.jpg

With a volunteer referee/caster in each lobby. A referee's position is voluntary, and it is their job to:

Make sure everone gets a fair amount of playtime in - that is ensuring that no one player gets an undue amount of time playing and ensuring that no one spends too much time lingering and observing (if you just want to watch, that's what the streams are for)
Keeping an overall tab of players (who has yet to play, people waiting in the chatroom wanting to jump in and play etc)
Keeping overall 'order', order being a relative term.
To me, the King of the Hill format is simply a suggested format. It's much more important to ensure that we get roughly even matches going and to ensure that everyone gets fights in. In my mind, keeping to this spirit is more important than keeping a rigid structure (we have tournaments and other events for that)

I've taken onboard posters like Torpid's argument that we don't want to segregate the community further, but I also strongly feel that intermediate players need somewhere to train properly before being thrown in with the sharks, which is why the format that I've suggested proposes a compromise. Undoubtedly, the ELITE lobbies will generate more viewers and herein lies the incentive. If you want the PRO MLG COVERAGE, you'll want to leave the intermediate lobbies as soon as possible to play with the big boys, incentivising you to git gud.

In any case, there's going to be a lot for organisers to take on board and learn from the night, so I'll flit in between the different lobbies (whatever format is decided in the end) to see how things are going.

Not sure if I can make it to this one, but the idea is great. More 1 vs 1s, less team games!

we might need to split in to 3 lobbys. there are a lot of people signing up.

Current Players:

Nurland
Riku
N0ave
Atlas
Cheah
Protagonist
Crewfinity
Toilalee
Windu
Swift [?]
Vapor [?]
Forest [?] he needs to clarify here rather than just linking a video of a LA melting a GM.
Flo [?]

Streamers:

Lobby #1:
Ven
Max power

Lobby #2:
Vapor [?]
Nurland [?]

Lobby #3 [?]:
?????????
?????????

------

Vapor said hes only streaming if someone is co-casting with him, otherwise hes playing. nurland said he Might be able to co-cast with him.

We need more streamers

also with our current amount of players the 2 lobbys will either be filled to the brim which means slower rotation of players in to the games, or we'll need 3 lobbys. which we dont have the streamers for right now.
i mean we have 3 streamers, but one-person streams for shoutcasting is boring, max couldnt tell a 1v1 BO to a 3v3 BO if it killed him. vapor only wants to stream if he is co-casting. so we're in an awkward position.

Do all lobbies really have to be streamed?

well that was one of the main purposes of it, is that streamers can stream the lobbys and maybe commentate on a players decesions etc and suggest ways of improevement etc.

i guess we could always forgo streamers on the "big boys" game as cheekie said there will likely will be a lobby like that and one for the newbies/intermediate. i however fully expect vapor to play in the big boys loby though. maybe he could do a POV stream, and its not like everyone will be playing all the time. but you'll have to ask vapor.

me and max will be in the newbie/intermediate one to try and help people improve a little. i do however intend on playing some of the fight clubs, especially if its weekly. so would like some more streamers to get involved regardless.

I'll try to find a half decent microphone, figure out how to streaming works AND find out whether my net is fast enough if there's a lack of streamers for three lobbies for tomorrow. No promises my net will be fast enough, though I'm more than happy to stream and commentate either on a solo or a co cast basis.

I suppose there's a need to strike a balance in between providing tips and strategies to the learners and showing the audience on how top players play, which will also draw in bigger audience numbers. Regardless, we'll need to see how many people turn up for the event and see how people want to be divided amongst the lobbies before we can make a decision.

As to the frequency of events, I personally can arrange an 'official' event at maximum once a month, one in which I'd try to gather in bigger crowds. However, that doesn't stop anyone else from organising their own thing more frequently on a weekly basis. This will also better accommodate people like PhatE, who can't make these times for one reason or another.

Ven I'm playing your GK plsthx.

I believe he was once associated with this game, then a fluke of fate saw him withdraw into the mists of time and the Black Rage.
