New bits for Warlock

Postby David-CZ » Wed 31 Jul, 2013 10:38 pm

UPDATED: 25.8.

Fixed an error where the model wasn't displayed on low settings.

UPDATED: 20.8.

Recently I've been working on a new model for the Dark Reapers but unfortunatelly ran into some problems that are now already solved. Hopefully the model will be completed soon.

In the meantime I made a new pair of horns and shoulderpads for Warlock in order to figure out some stuff and they turned out to look pretty good. So I'm posting a link below so you can try them out and see for yourself.

Extracting the rar into DOW folder should do the thing.

If one of the 'staff' wishes to add it to the ELITE feel free to do it.

I'm also open to critisism or tips and advices.

PS: Hope you like it.

Yes, Flash, these are the horns. Though the shoulderpads aren't visible in your screenshot due to the army rank.

Here they are:

Sorry for not posting any screenshots in the first place. Don't know what I was thinking.

By wire frame do you mean the FBX file? If so than I suppose it would be easier just to import the model from the .model file as it contains all the stuff needed for it to work. I also have a high poly model in a separate file just for making the texture if that's what you want.

wire from is taken from the modeling program and shows the polies. given how far along you are i think you can skip that though; any issues at this point are unlikely to cause significant issues.

I was thinking about adding/editing some stuff on the armour as well but didn't want it to look too fancy. After all I suppose it's seers' armour that is all shiny while warlocks' are more military like. Though I definitely want come back to it. I'd just like to finish the reapers first.

Also thx for something to draw inspiration from.

Do you mean completely new separate models?

Anyway I was thinking and would it be possible to make a squad with each member of a different model? I can imagine the Eldar squads would be a good example as they have both male and female in their ranks. This is just a theoretical question as I see the result would not be worth effort.

Also I definitely plan to continue working on new stuff for DOW. If not new units then at least minor adjustments.

I was pointing at making the seer council models look apart from default Warlock model.
One different model or two, Not more not less.

Dire Avengers are aspect warriors, guardian defender squad is the "platform squad"

But would it be even possible to make the game load two different models for the same unit?

Or the GK Paladins.
"Pater, peccavi in caelum et coram te; iam non sum dignus vocari filius tuus". Dixit autem pater: "manducemus et epulemur, quia hic filius meus mortuus erat et revixit, perierat et inventus est"

There will be no forgiveness for us.

ideally it would be random. i know you can have different models in the same squad though because of catachans. i would settle for a set 2/5 models having boob plate though.

Looks great, I'll implement it as rank unlock when the textures are final.
