Will i live to see warhammer 40k end?
I have loved the war-hammer 40k universe for something like over 15 years and im hooked on the Horus heresy novels and still enjoy playing elite and a few choice warhammer/dawn of war games, simply as its still fun and cool to hear and laugh at the massive amount of lore and detail that units and announcements say, i mean just look at the topic on favorite quotes in the general section and how much people love YouTube channels like vaults of Terra, If the emperor had a text to speech device and all the weird and brilliant vids by Alfabusa and the alpha legion.
Put while i could go on all day about war-hammer and dawn of war something bugged me the ever day. Have a mate who works in games workshop and when i asked him how was his day at selling codex's for £50 that u can buy for £2 on amazon (as a joke) he replied not bad just feeling a bit like all this eternal war and stuff is getting a bit silly i mean WHERE DOES IT ALL LEAD!.
Now was going to say chaos ruling duh, however when u really think about it whats the next stage. Is the void dragon going to wake up and reclaim the Necrons under the Ctan rule? Is the 14th black crusade going to take cadia and press on to holy Terra? Is the next hive fleet (the main body that is) arrive and consume or at lest threaten the galaxy on a even larger scale? Are the primarchs going to return? Are the squats going to return? What is the next step?
As i near the age of 24 i do wonder am i going to see a definite end to war-hammer 40k? Or will i need to freeze myself:p. Seriously any1 want to share their ideas on what they reckon?

Good topic Hooper, really.
If you read Talon of Horus you should feel that Warhammer 40.000 End of Times is comming. Golden Throne is failing, 13th Black Crusade is still on, Abaddon get foothold on Cadia and will push forward. I don't think that Necron will ever back under the rule of C'tans - GW has different look at them now. Are we goint to see 40k end? One day for sure. It will be painfull to watch as my loved SFI ends but it will but not yet, not yet

I think GW is only interested about doing anything else that we want. Such as useless mobile phone games or ruining table top game. Also, everything else but DoWIII.
About the future of Warhammer? I don't know. I don't have any idea how to path it. Maybe they will never change it.

Wh40k is a setting, not a story. It will definitely evolve at some point but I don't think there will be a definite end. Especially since they want every race in 40k to look strong.
A big question in the universe is what will happen when "the clock strikes midnight" and the 43rd millenia (42th?) begins. They have hinted a lot towards that being the time when the golden throne will finally break down and since nobody knows how to fix it or sustain the emperor without it his corporeal form will pass away. After that there are several theories as to what happens, the simplest being that the Emperor is just reborn and will lead the Imperium to another golden age.
The more grim option is that he will become the 5th (6th if you count Malice) chaos god as he completely joins the warp, and helps/leads the chaos gods to domination of the galxy. There are also a few lines in a book somewhere that tell of the scene were the emperor was placed on the Golden Throne, and why. Very interesting to read though I do not remember where to find it.
Then there's the possibility that Tyranids main fleet finally arrive (the Hive Fleet so far seen are basically scout fleets) and just eats everything.
The only thing we know for sure is that Tau are fucked and will never win.

I had to disagree. Warhammer Fantasy is also setting but it has The End of Times which acutally just ended
They will do the same with 40k, I think.Re: Will i live to see warhammer 40k end?
This is too much for me to bear.
The internal battery has run dry, the game can now be played. However, clock based events will no longer occur.

Yeah Sturn you are prob's right about Necrons just i hope the void dragon keeps things moving again at least with hat race and will affect all machines and vehicles at least on mars which will do massive damage to mars and the Imperium itself.
firatwithin totally agree on how they seem to love to make shitty mobile games and disgraceful ripe-offs instead of dawn of war 3. But at least battle-fleet gothica and eternal crusade could change that.
Lol the tau are fucked love it however them being immune to the warp may be a ace card tbh. I always figured eldar, tau and space marines etc would unite against the nids (Maybe necrons now that they seem to ally if they feel like it).
Soz swift:p

Love Wh40k as it is - cool dark universe in gothic style with a lot of space for reflection. Not sure if i really want to know 'End-times' - it can be really cool or ruin everything and i afraid of the second.

Eh, I don't put much faith on books such as those. It's canon until they decide it doesn't fit anymore, then it goes the way of the Squats.

End of the Emperor/current Imperium - the setting changes to focusing on how to survive that catastrophe with everything still trying to corrupt/dominate/eat each other. Survivors scrambling to new homes/areas of safety - alliances with xenos etc
It just gets grimmer and darker
. And fuck maybe then humans can do such things as research new tech or innovate :O!

Either the Imperium slips into complete anarchy or they survive long enough for humans to be become safely psychicly aware to fend off their territory for themselves (thsi was canon during sixth edition in case it isn't now).

We should start a pool and bet on when 40k will turn into 41K.
Categories will be as follows:
5 years and less
5 years, 1 day to 10 years
10 years, 1 day to 20 years
Never
The one closest to the exact day wins the pot. Come 20 years and there is no change then those who guessed never split the pool.

Yeah, and I reckon it's such a good setting: dark, hopeless, dystopian, nihilistic, batshit, fatalistic, desperate: everything wrong with us/or the worst aspects of us as human beings is part of our own downfall etc.
It's pretty cool in some ways if they leave it on a knife edge/precipice of the Imperium collapsing because then we can make our own fluff/histories/campaigns etc. Then the serious fiction can explore the lives/conflicts/histories of other Imperial servants/citizens and/or Xenos/traitors instead of the 'big'/famous names. FOr example I would love to see more on the loyalist and traitor Mechanicus as I find them so fascinating.
Plus this is all still centered in the Milky Way galaxy, not only is it a big place, but there is lots of stuff outside it etc.
Or explore more of the history from post HH to current time and how the Imperium kept fucking things up etc.
