The problem is that on pre-2.4 version launch options were "-applaunch 56400 -nomovies -modname Elite -dev", after 2.4 they are now "-applaunch 56400 -nomovies -modname Elite" there is no "-dev" launch option. Even the created shortcut will not work since it directs to .exe that is modified by steam launch options.
Looks like DoW counts that extra "-dev" string as a different version of the game so u can join games of other ppl that have it too but u cant join or see games that are created by ppl that were not using old launch optinos. Took me some time to figure it out. Thought u could use some tips. Cuz i know at least flaming and ГОРЖУСЬ РОССИЕЙ)))) use them, I played with ya
And u can also delete the old shortcut and get either new one or use launch option -applaunch 56400 -nomovies -modname Elite
P.S. Yea, now i've seen that indrid noted on download page that u should delete -dev (now when riku pointed at it). But i wouldnt've even noticed that something went wrong cuz game worked fine and i've connected with other ppl and stuff. But for some reason couldnt join/see slaaneshi's game and other lobbies that he've seen. And it wasnt too clear that i should go to download page and read the instructions. So i guess if ppl see the sympthoms that they have in the topic name, it should be more intuitive place to look for solution
