Two questions from a newbie

Hello guys, my first post here, I hope you will bear with me ^^ Alright, first I wanted to ask, is the AI able to use all those new, fancy units with some resemblance of strategy, and maybe put up a bit of a fight? Second: could any kind souls either tell my, step-by-step, how to choose the Grey Knights in a custom game, or direct me to an already existing walkthrough? (I've tried searching for it, but couldn't find info on both those questions)

Hi :)

The AI can use new units, but can't target power nodes because they were set to not be auto-targetable in the mod. Not sure how well they use the new units though.

Select the Space Marines, and you can select the Grey Knight Brother Captain, who will be in the fourth commander slot. Grey Knights don't have their own section for now.

I got a question, Power Nodes is not auto-targetable now, but units with turrets like tanks still turn their gun to the power node, the only difference now - they dont shoot, just look. Is it possible to fix, so they dont "look' on them at all? Sometimes it's really hard to hunt the enemy vehicle when your tank always trying to turn his gun backside to the node.

I think you should direct your post to the bugs section as that sounds like a bug.

I've got another newb question: what are the numbers on retreating? How much speed do they get?

As soon as they retreat, their speed increases by 1; after 4 seconds of retreating, their speed increases by an additional 1.25, so 2.25 higher in total; after 8 seconds, their speed increases by another 1.25 (+3.5 total); and after 12 seconds, their speed increases by another 0.75 (+4.25 total).

And what are some weapons that have damage to retreating !=1? Shees get 0.85x grenades do about 4x, what else?

Banshees were changed back to 1x because of their new leap. Can't remember which ones aren't equal to 1, but those values are all in the Codex on the weapon pages next to "damage to retreating".

Nades do 90% on retreat in Elite.

It's 4.5x for grenades. But it's 90% of what they used to do in retail - 5x.

From the change log:
Grenades generally do 90% damage to retreating units (instead of 100%)

Nades don't do 4,5 times more damage on retreat, I'm fairly sure :)

To elaborate, nades have a 4.5 modifier versus retreating units, but combined with the 80% damage reduction versus ranged damage for retreating means that in the end, nades do 90% of their damage to retreating units.

I thought I read there was something like that; should that be spelled out somewhere?

It's in the game files :)
It's nowhere I can find on the Codex yet. Windu, fix? :p
You can find it on the retail wiki combat page though.
In Dawn of War II, you can issue the "Fall Back" command to heroes and most infantry units. Units that are told to Fall Back will make a bee-line to their HQ building while breaking suppression, gaining more speed (Which kicks in after a few seconds) and greatly reduced (-80%) ranged damage, but also increased (+30%) melee damage. The unit becomes immune to weapon knockback, but is still affected by ability knockback.

Added it to the Codex Tutorial page with some more detail. Let me know if anything should be added, worded differently, or w/e.

Nice, thats the place I looked for it when this thread came up^^.

I would maybe change:
"This means grenades deal 10% less damage than their maximum to retreating units." to
"This means grenades deal 10% less damage than their normal to retreating units."

Maybe also add, that some units have special modifiers like 0,5 damage agaisnt retreating and where to find that.

But anyway, good job!

Thanks! Elite might modify it someday anyway; you'd have a place ready.
