Hey everyone,

Please find below Will's (DarthMoose) and I first episode for our new Elite Mod tutorial. This episode introduces the Elite Mod + the forums.

The series will cover everything in the game and it is aimed at new players who want to improve their understanding of the game.
Every episode will come out every week on a Monday and episode 2 will cover the new units and the new faction, they Grey Knights.

I did watch the first episode, a nice little run down of the community there.

What exactly will you be looking at in future and how are you going to go about covering it? My biggest concern, and don't take this as me bashing on you, is that you're very new to the community, you've said yourself you are still an inexperienced player, so if you're going to go covering balance or strategy in future are you sure you fully understand the way the mod plays out? I don't mean this in a sense of "U R NOOB STFU" but I'm concerned that as you're less experienced you may mislead those who haven't played the game yet.

For the immediate future I am only covering the mechanics of the game. I know that I am not that experienced and this series has been made with that in mind. So things like balance and strategy are not on my mind at the moment. Most new players don't even know the difference between the weapon and armour types, or that power is equal for everyone on one team but the requisition is capped depending on upkeep. These sort of things is where I am looking at.

When it comes to something that is out of my depth I will be looking to others to help me out, hence Will at the moment. I spend a lot of time researching and learning and I am hoping that I can get to the stage of teaching the game accurately and comfortably.

If anyone wants to contribute, I am more than happy to include them in the videos!

In addition to that, a beginners perspective can be way more usefull to help beginners. Good thing you are doing here!

I'm fairly new to this Mod as well and can I just say thanks for all the effort you're putting into this. New players commentating in a "new" player fashion is exactly what, in my opinion, the new player base of this community needs.

I would also wholeheartedly support and enjoy someone such as Dark Riku or Cyris (this list is not comprehensive - there are a dozen other players who would do just as good a job) doing exactly the same thing but at an entirely different level of play.

This community needs to be easier for new players to get into and this for me, is certainly one way that's going to help. Great work mate, keep it up!

@Swiftsabre - let's get positive bro! This is a good thing. Elite shouldn't be elitist - not in my opinion anyway

So you want a "pro" version of a beginner series? Not sure what you mean Fallowfield.

To a certain extent yeah mate, exactly that!

Someone who is more experience with the game and is therefore perhaps a little more qualified to talk about the balance and more specific strategy side of things.

Where Welshy has already mentioned he's going to focus on mechanics, someone else doing something similar that focuses on the other integral aspects of the game would be, in my opinion useful and interesting.

But then I think, is the community too small for this to happen in the first place? Should I just go play more and figure it all out myself...I guess so.

I'm just spitballing here mate. What I do know is that this is good and when people offer up their time (as you guys have with the Tournament side of things) to try and make this community better, thats something to be celebrated and be positive about

Anyway, just my ramblings dude! Nothing more.

I think that is a good idea Fallowfield sadly if someone was going to do this, they would of already done it by now?

@Fallowfield Oh I think it's a great idea, but I'm always concerned when newer people turn up to do stuff aimed at the lower levels, though I suppose it's hypocritical of me since I started out in this community by facilitating newer players. It's good someone's doing it and it's an initiative we needed years ago.

I guess I could try and do something like this but I don't know if I can commit to it :/
I might put out a proof-of-concept and see if there really is any interest in it.

I'm on quite often hosting 1v1 lobbies. I'd be happy to hop on TeamSpeak during these and open them up to be fight clubs and discuss matchups/strategies/give advice and whatnot. This is more informal than perhaps what you were looking for but also easier to do and not as time-intensive
