So a random discussion started up while Max and I were waiting for a game to come up. I was thinking about inviting the "best players in the community" and said 8 is a good number. Some said we got more than 8 good players, and I agree. I'm just having a hard time ranking them. What are your guys' thoughts on who are the gosu players? Here's my list.

Considering doing an invite only tournament? Consider the following players:

- Wurgl(?)
- Soul Drinkers (If he ever comes back online)
- Forestradio
- Giddolo
- Hobbes San/Chaos Librarian
- Jim Beam(?????)

Hope I haven't missed anyone.

This list feels very arbitratry. And the *power levels* vary quite a bit with good/bad times and most importantly with rust/practise.

What about nidterror and locklear, I ran into them in elite recently?

Ps. It pleases me that you still regard me so highly despite my subpar performance "recently" and not winning a tournament in well over a year.

Having seen Dark Hero in action long before he entered this tournament, I would object to him being much lower in rank than Torpid as they would fight on even ground whenever they were playing.

I like this idea of "Who is the greatest of them all?"
Make it happen!

edit: Codex should definitely be in that list.

But in a more serious tone, we're gearing up to do the big tourney sometime in November, and I personally don't know how to determine the player pool. Do we do it just like before? Do we do it via invites? Past tournament results?

Jim Beam used to beat me, now i seem to beat him.

There seem to be alot of good players that doesnt visit the forums, thats in 3s though, would still be nice to see them in 1on1 action.

Sgrunt something, could qualify.

I could definitley watch it as a legue/ "football season", were everyone meets everyone and the points decide.

Just as a heads up, but I didn't put EL on this list solely because they would take up the top 10 slots and the Honorable List was already getting too long. I'm pretty sure Soul Drinkers doesn't even play at all anymore

And remember, you can't write dishonorable without writing honorable first.

About this "tournament for best players" that seems to coming up, how about pick 8 top players (e.g. pick them by community voting, or recent MRT results) and make a qualification round to choose another 8 (so, tournament will be for 16 players total), that will be open for everyone to compete.

In reality though, I would probably put Noisy in the #1 spot because he has demonstrated that he can play at a really high level more consistently then the rest of us, and then from there you have a 4 way tie for 2nd (or 5th if you want to get technical) with myself, toil, riku, and hammer. That might be shameless of me, but I feel the 4 of us have also demonstrated that on any given Sunday we can win against anyone in the world.

The next grouping would have Torpid and BigMathis at the top of it for sure. I mean hell, I haven't seen either of them play in a while, but I know anyone in their right mind does not look forward to playing against these guys in a tournament match.

As an aside...

Is there a possibility of doing the yearly finals or October tourney within the time frame of October 13th - 19th? Squeeze it in there somewhere? Please? :D:D:D:D.

Oh right, I always forget that you're not the same person. With the eldar avatars, maining eldar, purple badges and whatnot.

I suddenly want this to be a living ladder... Challenge the person above you to swap spots etc. We'd need to remove some of the inactive players and enshrine them somehow though.

We were looking at possibly something in November for the big tournament, but if you guys want in October then sure, we can accommodate.
