FPS tanks when observing

So I like to observe games when we play and observing 3v3 is a nightmare for me.
I am running a i5 4670K 4.3MHz OC, GTX980TI so I know I have more than enough power.
Playing a 3v3 game is fine, where I generaly run roughly ~120fps stable.
Observing 2v2 is fine, where I also roughly run ~120fps.
But then comes observing 3v3, where my PC runs at the start of the game, a whopping ~16fps!
And as the game progresses it tanks down to about 4 fps and it's not watchable.
So does anyone have any idea of what the reason might be? I know the game is bad when observing 3v3 but I havent heard anyone that runs the game as bad as me.
At this point I am out of ideas.
