Dawn of War Codex

Some things have always bothered me even back before Elite came out, which I'm sure never bothered anything else.

Small things that probably wouldn't tip balance of the game either way, but somehow I always wished would change.

The Lord General's sniper rifle. I wish it was not fire on the move. Just so I could see if it made it any better. We know you're strong enough to carry a bolter dude, no need to try to show off by firing a sniper rifle while moving either.

Size in Commander units. Why isn't the Warboss medium sized like the Chaos Lord or the FC? And now, it applies to the BC as well. Do they make fun of the BC because he had to ask for a 'small' when ordering his suit? This one might impact balance a bit so if it ever changed I'd guess the health values of those units would have to be changed a little as well.

Was wondering what other random pointless changes people have had cross their minds.

Still waiting for that hull-mounted Commissar on the Baneblade!

I wish the DA exarch had a shuriken catapult,shimmer shield+dire sword or something they use, not that warlock blast.

It's really a problem of the animations used - they aren't fit for a pistol, so he ends up doing that thing.
Besides, if he had a catapult he would not fit the sword carrying standard the leaders have always had in the game.

It does pointless dps anyway so who cares.

i want all nid units to be able to jump over cover if they happen to get stuck on it after leaving a tunnel....... fuck you chest high walls

IIRC only Hive tyrant, Terminator FC and Chaos lord are size medium, rest of the commanders are small, normal FC is small.

If CL and FC term are medium, Bro Cap should be medium too.

Not sure if its even possible but i wish units got kill count like in CoH. It would be really fun.

Ooof, yeah. Not just nids though, this happens to me a lot as IG with GM's moving in and out of Chimera (and even Eldar in a webway!). I wish there was some sort of solution where if you hit retreat, and the unit reaslizes that it has ended the retreat instantly (ie: it's stuck in the map) that it goes into "no clip" mode for X seconds. I dunno. Just spit-balling.

Though, this is pretty far from a "pointless" change

That's not true. It can kill a DA model in 3 hits! That's got to count for something, right?

Well it can slowly whittle down a dev in a garrison when you have no real anti garrison so I guess there's that.

His grenade launchers and melta guns are huritng real good and even his sword(s) are hurting good. Why not his sniper too?

Add an option for orks to upgrade one nob squad to armored mega nobz, with power armor and klaws

The stormshield image shows a powersword behind the storm shield, rather than a chainsword. Completely immersion breaking.

I want Mark of Nurgle and Mark of Slaanesh for Chaos Dreadnoughts. The Mark of Nurgle would upgrade the autocannon to add explosive acid like the Mark of Nurgle on the Chaos Predator does, and the Mark of Slaanesh to replace the autocannon with a Blastmaster.

Also, I'd love it if Mark of Tzeentch replaced the claw with the missile rack and not the autocannon, but that would just be OP.

More voice lines or restoring deleted voicelines from retail, which ever makes sense. Feels like we don't ever hear most of them.

you know the sad thing is that i liked Diomedes back in chaos rising when he had his helmet on and was talking through it. there is always this thing where every freaking commander of every freaking spacemarine / chaos space marine army in dow is going into battle with nothing but their face. It also doesn’t help that when he took off his helmet he sounded like a dude who was taking a really constipated crap through all of his lines.....\

I feel like Angelos' voice would have suited the Grey Knights better in my honest opinion. He has more of the "I AM ONE OF THE EMPEROR'S FAITHFUL!" vibe instead of the whole "BROTHERS, STRIKE THEM FOR THE CHAPTER!" that Diomedes' lines give off...but NEVER remove Diomedes completely ever, it would be the single worst change in the history of DoW2.

I actually like captain hairgel AKA Aramus. I'd like to see his face and voice back - I always thought Diomedes was a bit overacted (not as bad as Boreale or DOWI Thule, but still). If you used Angelos' voice that would be cool too.

Wow, I actually liked DoW1 Thule, of course he is WAY better in DoW2. That being said I wish the games focused more on non-codex chapters.

Hard to call Blood Ravens Codex Chapter as they were created by Relic for DoW series. Any example of none codex chapter? You mean Space Wolves, Black Templars, Blood Angels or Dark Angels?

Rangers are armed with power swords according to codex, one of their weapons is listed as
eld_power_sword_ranger

Except they only do regular melee

With power melee I wonder if we would ever see a ranger kill an ASM in melee combat

I've seen rangers kill a nade launcher heretic in melee once.
