Dawn of War Codex

Heyo trying to figure out how the different weapon families work. For instance I hear Indrid talk about power melee units during his casts but I don't understand what it means. So i went looking in the codex and saw that there were a lot of weapon families each with different stats and such. I was just wondering what classifies a unit as power melee and if it brings some kind of bonus.

As you can see it deals 1.3 times the damage against SHI (Super Heavy Infantry, like terminators and Ogryns) and HI (Heavy Infantry, like tacticals). Meaning it deal 30% extra damage versus them. On the other side it does "only" 0.15 (15%) damage against vehicles. Most power weapon squads can be counted as very soft AV, possible to finish of those very low HP vehicles. You can see what units have power melee weapons on their respective pages or on the ingame tooltips. Banshees, stormboys, sluggaboys with flamers, etc all do power melee.

so a squad like howling banshees, for instance, found here:

is equipped with swords that do power melee damage, and their weapons themselves can be found on that page as well:
