Bigger maps

This idea probably has been suggested, or this will be turned down or it's nearly imposible to implement but could it be plausable without crazy amount of work to implement maps with a lot of prequisition points energy nodes (2x or 3x or mb even 4 times the normal amount mb?) or add an option to get 2x 3x 4x recource income on custom games. And while having a bigger map and mb 200 population cap.

I love this mod and game, but I feel like having bigger games with more tanks and more of everything would be amazing. This can be somewhat achieved trough 3v3 but for example tanks are rare to see due to the game ending before tier 3 and due to them being expensive and in 3v3 u cant control everything yourself.

Yeah it's easily possible and even without modding the game you can build maps that allow for more resources and larger pop cap by using the tools available in the world builder, such as popcap nodes. However, you'd have to look into doing it yourself as it doesn't really chime with the way Elite mod works as a competitive balance mod, but by all means if you want to do that sort of thing and don't know feel free to ask for help.
The internal battery has run dry, the game can now be played. However, clock based events will no longer occur.

Couple of questions. How can I get access to that tool, how can I distribute it to a friend for example and would having that map on my gamefiles limit me from playing Elite mod with other players online who dont have the map (so would i need a separate client) Is it hard to use?

And yea having a map like that would break balance thats for sure. But more custom game options wouldn't hurt in my oppinion. Not sure how easy it is to implement them.

The tool is quite simply the world builder, just make a map and you'll find all the stuff there. You'd have to make a separate mod if you changed the pop cap any other way and I haven't tested whether the world builder's campaign tools such as pop cap nodes work in game, so it's more of a guess, butt hey should increase pop cap by a flat rate when captured.

Having maps in the mod files that other people don't does not break the game, you can play with everyone normally and if people get your map they can play it with you, however you'd have to ask about packaging as an SGA in order to add it to the files, which I know nothing about.

Like I said, if you want it, work on it, but making big battle modes is not what Elite is suited for so if you can make it yourself, that's fine, just Caeltos has a different vision.

It's understandable that elite mod is not for this.

Can't you? I'm starting to sound like a broken record in all these request threads but people don't have the time to make maps for other people. If you can learn how to use the world builder then you can experiment to your heart's content.

But isnt this a mod's forum ? and some people around here like doing such things? why is some1's request a problem? its the last active dow2 scene =)

me either don't have much free time. so I couldnt do it. im happy when I find the time to play.

Because it takes ages to make a map and making a map just for someone and his friend, that will prolly never be played with elite is just a waste of time. That's why, make the map yourself and have fun.

oh sry.

I was just thinking more global, new "bigger" map for the community. maybe integrated into ELITE? Pathing was also troubling on some maps. so it would be awesome , also meta-wise if some 1v1 or 2v2 get like 20% bigger. I would be very interested , thats for sure. Im not forcing some1 although =) just a friendly request

First of all, most players hate the bigger maps for certain reasons, 2nd of all you cant just "resize" maps, you would have to create it from scratch and bigger maps would favor certain races/heroes over others, making it even more unbalanced than it already is.

Well, technically, you can resize maps :twisted:

But I really don't want to go to the effort at the moment, there are more pressing things. Maybe if I had more time.
