IG guardsmen (HELP ME)

I'm sorry to bother everyone with my probable 'n00bish' question, but as an stalwart imperial guard player, i am a bit put off by the guardsman's new models, i know, i know, I'm just being picky but does any one know how i would go about changing the models back to vanilla? or maybe even changing them to the heavy bolter teams model? as i notice its still the vanilla just with a different head? or maybe even some one could show me how i could get the 'beauty guard' working with the Elite mod?
or maybe a factor could be that the models are abit bare and 'rugged' looking is because i haven't got any of that bloody terrible rank unlock war gear? any help would extremely appreciated, or maybe a level 60 mod atall?
i also dont want to seem like im bashing the hard working that goes into this mod (i play it an unhealthily amount)

Well, armies do unlock more "wargear" as you progress levels, but that is only visual. For example, at a later level you get bayonets for your lasguns and dozer blades for your chimeras/manticores/(leman russes). Is that what you actually want to know, or am I out of point?

bit off man,
simply a visual thing for me,
just if its possible to change the model / skin of the guardsmen s' back to vanilla (because im being picky and the current guardsman model really puts me off playing them for some strange reason) or possible so i can load the 'BeautyGuard' mod which uses the chaos rising guardsmen models

i'm under the impression that those are the CR guardsmen. it is doable to change the models but it's a bit of work. i don't know how to do it myself.

Yea i just need to learn how to swap models!
priorities is swapping the guardsmen models.
I've got copes tools but i have no idea where to start :(
I'd also want to be ambitious and have ago at swapping the storm troopers for the DkoK Grenadiers in the Krieg DLC.
I best start thinking about starting to be a busy bee!

You cannot change unit properties without making the mod incompatible with other players.

I've been reading a few posts on forums.relicnews
and lets just clear this up now, if i used model swapping to change the guardsmen from elite, to the guardsmen from say idk vanilla retribution? or maybe a level 60 mod, purely for a cosmetic standard, changing nothing else, squad size etc... so no balancing issues.
that would in theory not work?

Sorry for the double post, butttttttttttttttttt.
I've added the Dkok grenadier as the stormtrooper for said DLC.
pretty chuffed (i don't know how to upload than image that isn't too big to upload) :(

would any one be able to help me now with changing the guardsmen back to vanilla or something that looks better?

Hi, there is an easy way to do this which uses the "mod foldering" of the game

I assume you have downloaded Shuma's "Beauty Guard" which are the Chaos Rising models
http://www.mediafire.com/file/eahbd970d ... yGuard.sga

place the folder in your game assets folder
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\dawn of war ii - retribution\GameAssets\Mods

You may need to create the Mods folder

this should automatically replace the ingame models. Move the folder out again if you dont like them

Or you can try and extract everything from the sga file. And place that in you data files. That's what I did for the Iron Warriors DLC in my mod. Just keep in mind that some of the models might come out pink. That could mean multiple things. But I am just an amateur at modding atm so you can't get too much from me.

You can do it like Kan said. But if ur making a mod and plan or releasing it. The visual. Change will have to be in data.

pink means it can't find some texture. you'll probably need to extract those textures as well.

i tried the mod folder way, no luck. i then extracted all the sga files and put them in the elite mod and the sergeant loads the chaos rising model (was too stupid to check the heavy bolter team) but the normal guardsmen don't :(

Do you have dlc enabled? You might need to replace the dlc models too (look for "chapter animations")?

Sometimes people forget to save the tab after making changes when modding. You might just need to try again.

Well we use different models than retail so replacing the unused retail models does nothing...

KanKrusha im not entirely sure what you mean? i think i have DLC enabled because i have been able to swap the stormtroopers in the Dkok for the generals grenadiers

Lulgrim, this might be getting a bit boring of a topic now :P but what files do i need to replace now? if changing the normal troops_wargear and said sub folders and files doesn't work because they're the wrong files?

I can't say off the top of my head, you'd need to check the GM entity blueprint in Cope's Toolbox and see which models are used ATM...
