Not 100% Elite related but..

Hey! New here, and I'm not exactly sure if this is the right subforum for this, but seeing as how I've read that it's possible to modelswap in Vanilla DoW2 without messing things up as long as the two models share the same animations..

I was wondering if it'd be at all possible for someone to set up a modelswap with the Last Stand Space Marine Captain that replaces him with a Grey Knight model from Elite, and maybe replace the Power Axe/Chainsword with a GK Nemesis Sword?

I'd do it myself but I've never delved into the file structure of DoW2 to see if it'd be as simple as just renaming and replacing files. If it is, then by all means let me know and I'll try to put together a modification that does just that!

Figured I'd ask since - in my opinion at least - a Grey Knight makes the most sense for The Last Stand, esp. on the Anvil of Khorne map, where you trash Gabriel Angelos and an entire platoon of Blood Ravens as the final wave.

Figure only a Grey Knight would be able to get away with that without being executed afterwards since a Grey Knight could claim the big GA and his cohorts were 'Tainted by Chaos'.

Uh, I don’t think TLS is supposed to make sense… if you want to figure out a logical explanation for all of that occurring, I doubt you will have much time left to actually play anything.

About a model swap, I dunno. The GK model uses custom animations, but maybe the structure follows the original SM model, so that you could fall back on stock SM animation. Just trying to rename it is probably the fastest way to find out.

Do you know which files I might/will need, and where I should place them?

And yeah, I try not to overthink TLS's lore standpoint. :p

EDIT: Well shit. Everything's hidden in .sga archives, which I have literally zero experience with.

Sure the last stand makes sense! A couple badasses got tired from their respective factions and they decided to secede and ally for their own reason with the appropriate reaction from their race. Or in the case of the bloodied colosseum it's just chaos doing chaos stuff.
