Hi!
I downloaded the game from www.downofwar.info but couldnt install the game and it said didnt locate steam.so I installed the steam.then I could install the game.but when I run it the game don't open otherwise the steam get opened by it self and it said you cannot play this game .so what should I do?

Did you download and install Dawn of War II Retribution beforehand?

If so, did you run the non-modded game once, before you tried running the mod?

Where are you in this process:

1.) Download and Install Steam
2.) Create a Steam Account and log into steam with your username
3.) Purchase Dawn of War II Retribution
4.) Download and install DoW II Retribution via the Steam client.
5.) Run the default version (un-modded) Dawn of War II Retribution
6.) Exit said program
7.) Download and install Elite Mod V.2.5.1 using the following link: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2385 (MAKE SURE IT IS THE FULL INSTALLER)
8.) Run the Elite Mod using the shortcut placed on your desktop

Why should I buy a game with 30$ cost before trying or testing it? That is not how a purchase should works...
So is there anyway to dawnload it for free?or testing it for a period than buy it?

Ah, here's your problem them. ELITE is a modification of DoW2 Retribution - it is not a stand alone game. ELITE is in no way associated with Relic, the game company that created DoW2. There is no way to play ELITE without having a copy of DoW2 installed already, the easiest way being through a Steam purchase. Retribution has gone on sale many times in the past (as low as 5$), and will likely be on sale again. Put it on your Steam Wishlist and you'll get an e-mail when it goes on sale.

Looking at the download page, there isn't actually any information saying this explicitly. Calling it a "multiplayer mod" is the hint you need to know this, but it's not completely direct.

Ohhhh! I get it now.I just didn't know that DoW II R is a game and DoW Elite is more like a patch.

I'd rather you bought the game tbh, show some interest and we could get on with dow3 (wishful thinking). It's not really expensive anyways

About asking adults! That failed as you know what a mother will say to ger son.
So I am looking for someone to lend me his steam account so I can download the game if he already bought it.that's legal right?

No that's not legal either, I haven't read the terms of steam, but I'm pretty sure you can't share your steam account with anyone, maybe only with blood-related parents, not the point anyway, you can buy steam cards to get credit on steam or usually countries have pre-paid cards that can be bought/accounted to minors as long as their parents agree to it.

1) No, they are personal. 2) Nobody would be crazy enough to give you their account. 3) You need the account every time you want to play.

Just get a Steam lul card from somewhere. Or buy DoW2 on DVD to get an activation code.

Are you sure that it works with DVD?
When DoW II released(not retribution and not chaos rising I am talking about first release of DoW II) I bought a DVD and the same problem that I actually have happened that steam asked me to purchase the game while I lent the DVD to my friend and it works without purchasing the game from steam. Plz confirm to me that it works with DVD and I will get it from my friend video game magazine.he wont say no like my mother...

DVD copies come with a Steam code, you don't need the actual disc.
