Preamble:
- Right so there's actually a lot to talk about but for now, I'll keep it short in here. I'll be putting up a separate thread for what kind of changes we're looking at once I've confirmed that it will work 100%.

- I'll be considering adding Sector 95 to the map pool on suggestion. Right now, I don't know much about the map but if I like it, I'll add it in.

- The biggest change for this month will be how seeding is handled. I'll be going back to traditional seeding for this tournament and then the rest of the changes will be for the "May" tournament. Traditional seeding seeds players based on some metric, which will be ladder ratings for our purposes. Then, based on the number of players you're auto-assigned an opponent. #1 seed vs #16 seed, #2 seed vs #15 seed and so on.

- Speaking of which, I still consider this as an April tournament. Dates be darned. The monthly streak continues.

- Also considering doing a donation system of some kind. Little bit iffy on this one since I don't really want to compete with normal Elite donations, but even marginal donations can boost the prize pool quite considerably.

- As a general note, we're going to actually start hyping these tournaments up again! Look for a lot more announcements, hopefully a vid or two. A stretch goal for me is to cut a small promo with one of the players. I think that would be a really cool thing but we'll see. For those who have never seen a promo before, they look something like...

General Info:

Date:Monthly Rumble Tournament #23 will be on Sunday, May 1st.
Time:17:00 UTC (for help converting the timezone)

The tournament will be played in the 1v1 format with Victory Point Control rules.
The tournament will be welcome to All Skill Levels.
The tournament will be played on the 2.5.1 patch.

Rules:
It's going to be a single elimination tournament and we'll play as many signups as possible.
Refer to the Codex Tournamentus for an overview.

Map Picks
Maps are always selected before hero picks.

The first match of a round will always be a fixed map as shown in the brackets. After this, the map pick will be the losing player's choice. Only maps in the map pool may be played to be considered a valid tournament match.

No map can be played more than once within a round. Each player will have the option to veto a single map during a round, excluding the first match map. Maps that are variants of other maps, such as Pale Tooth Gorge and Green Tooth Gorge, will count as one map and can't be selected in the same round.

Hero Picks

The player on the top side of the bracket cell will lock in their heroes first for the first match. Next game, the player on the bottom side of the bracket cell will lock in their heroes first, and the order will alternate like this until the final game. In the final game of the round, the losing player of the previous match will pick the map and then their hero first.

To check out who is on the top and bottom of your bracket cell, just look at the Brackets page. If your name is in the blue bar, you're the top of the bracket. If it's in the red bar, you're the bottom of the bracket.

I'm not sure if i will play because i'm out with my girlfriend for the weekend, but i hope to be on time.

Decided to get a little creative with the prizes on this one.

1st and 2nd place winners get a free hypuu video made for them, complete with whatever music they want. The exact nature of the vid will be up to negotiation of the winners and whoever edits the vids (which is probably me atm).

1st place will get the bonus of either a bunch of steam games or the cash prize (prob $25 as usual, but will get back on that) in addition.

Also as a general note, the hypuu train will start to leave station today and tomorrow. Today will be scheduling the notifications on the Steam group, and tomorrow at some time the general hype vid will be coming out. I'm still looking for volunteers who would be willing to do a promo though

One last note, but after this tournament we're going to change some of the tournament structure. The basic tournament itself is unchanged and I'll post a thread about exactly how it works but in short, tournaments will have persistent results both in seeding for the big Championship style tournaments and for help in seeding brackets and finally to help filter player skills so that tournaments are more evenly skilled in level within a specific tournament.

Just out of curiousity, am I also allowed to apply parameters to playing random? Such as, I will play random, but not chaos sorcerer?

I will play face commander, random, or caster

I think I will be in time to join CL, WB, FC.

I'm pretty sure can't exclude certain heroes/races from random.

No, random is random. If you really want to play random then stop cheating with it all the time with ht, la and lc.
