Not long ago gave a copy of my last stand to a friend (necron release) who didnt play dow 2 and sticked mainly to the table top. Word for word he started to say that the new necrons look and the overall changes in the fluff ruined them (thx to Ward ofc). Stating that from a really potent and omni present threat they became just a rehash of tomb kings and just robo-speeh marinez. Unlike him i actually loved what they did to the new necrons which gave them an actual personality and put a new spin on a pretty much boring and dull race considering that nids already exist and are better fleshed out as omni present threat in the galaxy.
So im just curious guys whats your opinion? Do you like the old genocidal kill all living things robo murderers or the robo murderes with different dynasties having their own ambitions, goals and recreating the Necrontyr Empire?
Whats your take on Necrons?

a) they've always been a 40k rehash of the Tomb Kings, as far back as their original lead-based metal model line. They even had anhks and other Ancient Egyptian symbology then.
b) Ward had a team around him, and was subject to approval. I really wish people would stop blaming one guy for something the whole company is responsible for; good or bad.
c) I like the new personality personality; it's a natural evolution from them being mindless robots. I and some friends actually brainstormed a similar evolution when we were working on a fan project for 40k's "end game" timeline.

Dont really blame Ward for the crons, tbh he/they did an amazing job with them in my opinion. But i blame him for other idiotic piece of whore he wrote on paper, but thats on a side note.
Re: Whats your take on Necrons?
I was done with Necrons when the Pariahs removed from tabletop. They were the only interesting thing is Necrons for me thanks to Dark Crusade.
I love Necrons. They are not just a necromancer race of a fantasy universe. Some work has been done on them. They have their own storyes, own lore and stuff, etc. They are not acting like heroes or vilians. They are not acting like Chaos, '' YEAH' Anarchy and terror! '' or Imperium like '' We die for our leader and our kind! ''. They are like anti-hero race. One of the hardest races for SM to handle back in DoW1. Maybe I was supposed to be the Necron nerd of this community but I was lazy for that.

Re: Whats your take on Necrons?
I don't like all the talky Necron things, that makes them far too human and removes the implacable and relentless nature of them.
Part of why I prefer the older Necrons is that the old stuff like third ed Necrons lasted such a long time and the army became a bit of a relic, and I love collecting the old models, so seeing this ancient artefact of Space skeletons dissapear and change was a little disheartening.
However, there are some good things about the new Necrons: the wider scope, the variety you get for forming your own background and the modernising of a faction that although I liked in that form, did need some juice.

The internal battery has run dry, the game can now be played. However, clock based events will no longer occur.

They got rid of the grimsilent Necrons because they already have the Nids to occupy that role. Makes sense to me.
