Changing Wargear Names

Seeing as the Commie Lord got his T2 fist changed into a claw, why not making some other name changes to wargear that have awesome lore behind them?
Keep in mind that these don't require any model changes or animation changes or even descriptions. Just a name change.

SM
FC:
-Power Sword becomes "Alexian's Blade," the weapon Davian Thule used on Kronos. It is also found in DOW2 vanilla campaign
-Thunder Hammer becomes "Godsplitter," Gabe's signature weapon, useful for smashing in the faces of demon princes
-Battle Standard becomes "Standard of Gabriel Angelos," a wargear from DOW2 vanilla as well

Apothecary:
-Sanguine Chainsword becomes "Blood Reaver," the chain blade of Flesh Tearers Chapter Master Gabriel Seth (I know this is a two handed weapon, but let's just say the apo uses it one handed)

Assault Terminators
-Lightning Claws replaced by "The Raven's Talons," the personal weapon of Captain Shrike. Presumably, as a company captain, he can wear them in terminator armor as well.............

CSM
Chaos Sorceror:
Rod of Warpfire becomes "Black Staff of Ahriman," the weapon of famed chaos sorc Ahriman

I'll be updating this original post with more stuff as I think of it. Eldar gets some pretty sweet weapons too if I recall. It'll be impossible to do for nids, but they already got a unique lore-based unit in the Doom.

If I completely and utterly destroyed your favorite bits of lore, please don't rage. These are just suggestions. If Caeltos decides they make no sense, then I will happily shut up.

On a more positive note, leave your own suggestions.

As long as players actually know what they're buying I don't see a problem with it. But not playing SMs that much or be I a completely new to this would I be able to tell that for example Alexian's Blade is actually a power sword?

Yeah I wouldn't go for these names either because they can be rather confusing.
Power fist changing to power klaw is not confusing because it's kinda the same.

Or adding these random legendary weapons to "no-name" commanders
wouldn't make sense to me either.

Now if something is named incorrectly.
Like I think the melee weapon for the GK dread is? Not sure here.
That definitely could receive a name change then.

I'm agreeing with Riku on this one.

I'm against. These items have generalized names for a good reason, so they don't contradict themselves fluff-wise. E.g. The SM FC hammer would be named Godsplitter, but I would be actually playing Imperial Fists. How much sense would that make? Leave it as it is.

Its supposed to be changed to be Nemesis Doomfist, that's how GK call their dread CC weapons.

Also, I'm too against name changes, since you don't get to play a named commander. It makes no sence giving the Staff of Ahriman to a random sorcerer or the Raven's Talons to random Assault Terminators (also by fluff, Shrike is an Assault Marine, not Terminator).

Unless Caeltos goes insane I don't see us changing items into random "fluff" names.

I wanted the MWB named Asmon's Blade but Caeltos said no :(

Alright thanks for the input.

If someone wants to delete this thread, that's fine with me.
