The military is kemalists aka secular nationalist. They are known for anti-Erdoğan, pro-secularism and pro-Russia.

To be honest. I hope it is true and the coup is successful.
I am sick of the PCism of the Western World. And I'd rather a pro Russian Eastern Europe than a pro-middle Eastern one.
Makes one wonder how the world would be if the cold war didn't go as poorly for the USSR...

Good, I'm glad Turkey is getting sent to the Abyss. Being a Greek, I have Turks as a Favored Enemy on my statline

As mad as Erdogan may be I doubt he'd set this up to 'empower' himself. It makes him look terrible. Too much chaos. Too much death. Under no circumstance would that be good.
That said though, you're in Istanbul Firat? I hope you're staying inside. Military rebels don't seem to be doing much there though, although they're shooting civilians in Ankara.

Too bad they didn't take out Erdogan. Turkey was supposed to be an example of Islam's compatibility with modern secular democracy (something I become less and less convinced of each year), but they go and elect an Islamist lunatic like Erdogan.
Well, hopefully someone else will take him out or he will lose the next election.

We just accept it because we're told over and over it's the best way it could be done.
There's no actual rational, deep-rooted love for it though. If we had anotehr means of running a country that was viable and gave us as generic, selfish individuals, more power we'd grab it in an instance.

I dont think that the military were anything but another of those lovely pro-US flower revolution aimed of disposing Edgoran, due to the last being a lunatic and a madman. But i think Turkey is currently fucked beyond believe and i wont be surprised if there will be a civil war with a mix of Kurds trying to gain independence as well.

It worked pretty well for Hussein for a good while. Cult of personality is a lot effective than you think.
