Monthly Team Tournament 1 on Saturday July 30th @ 17:00 UTC
Posted: Thu 21 Jul, 2016 3:24 am
Preamble
- Sorry for the delay in making the post. Real life kicked and I had to postpone making up of this thread
- Atlas's last 2 v 2 tournament page and Codex Tournamentus had very solid rule so I did some copy pasting from it
- Unfortunately due to my real life kicking in, next Team Tournament will be at 3rd week of August instead of end of it
- If more people want the tourney to be on Sunday I will change it to that date so let me know
- Rules I written in this thread will be continued to be used for the upcoming tournaments
General Rules
- The tournament will be at July 30th UTC 17:00. Use the link below for converting time
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/f ... =1440&ah=7
- The tournament will be played in the 2 v 2 format.
- The tournament will be welcome to All Skill Levels.
- The tournament will be played on the 2.5.1 patch.

To enter provide the following information in a reply below:
- Your steam account name with Steam link. If you have trouble with this, let us know.
- Your 3 commander choices or random (If you choose random, you cannot pick other heroes at all. Pick such as (WS, FS, Random) is not allowed)
- If you're participating as a team, please give the name of your teammate as well. Their own linking of the Steam name and heroes will be considered a confirmation.
- As a bit of flavoring, we'd encourage teams to also come up with a team name. It's not a requirement, but it adds to the flavor of a team tournament.
- Note that you can participate in the tournament without having a teammate ready to go. We'll assign you an available teammate on the day of the tournament should you need it by selecting from the reserves.
- To retrieve your own Steam profile link, in your main Steam profile page, right click on your own picture and click "Copy Page URL". Once that is done, paste it into your post. A valid link should look something like http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198078148937/.
- Casters and streamers are more than welcome.
- Referee volunteers are welcome for keeping rules and saving replays
Rules
- It's going to be a single elimination tournament (no losers' bracket) and we'll play as many signups as possible.
- All the matches will be best of 3 except the finals which will be best of 5
- If we end up with number of teams beside these numbers (2-4-8-16-32), the last team to form up or sign up will be put on reserves. They will be only able to play when one of the teams do not show up.
- There will be a consolation match for 3rd and 4th place teams to decide which team is 3rd place only when there is a prize at stake.
Format
Victory Point Control: 500 VPs
Starting Location: Random
Resources: Standard
Map Picks
- Maps are always selected before hero picks.
- The first round of a match will always be fixed as Medean Cliff Mines.
- After this, the map pick will be the losing team's choice.
- Only maps in the map pool may be played to be considered a valid tournament match.
- No map can be played more than once within a match. Each team will have the option to veto a single map during a match, excluding the first round map. Maps that are variants of other maps, such as Pale Tooth Gorge and Green Tooth Gorge, will count as one map and can't be selected in the same round.
Hero Picks
- The team in the top bracket will lock in their commanders first for the first game. Next game the team in the bottom bracket will lock into their commanders first, alternating like this between teams until the final game. In the final game of the round, game 3 or 5 depending on the format, the losers of the previous game will pick the map and then their heroes first.
- To check out who is on the top and bottom of your cell bracket, just look at the Brackets page. If your team name is blue, you're the top of the bracket. If red, you're the bottom of the bracket.
- Once the tournament starts, you'll only be able to select among that pool of heroes or only Random if you selected Random. Note that nothing requires you to play as all of your pre-selected heroes; you're free to use just 1 hero through the whole tournament if you prefer.

Tournament Day Preparations
- http://steamcommunity.com/groups/dow2emrt
- Be present in the Steam group chat of the MRT Steam group on the day of the tournament for as long as you are in the running. In order to enter group chat, simply visit the link above and hit "Enter chat room" through a logged in Steam account.
- It is a good idea to be there at least 15 minutes before the tournament starts so that tournament organizers can make sure you're ready to go much quicker and on time for both you and for other players.
- No need for ESL reporter. Use it if you want to
Disconnections
When a game ends prematurely for whatever reason, three things can happen:
The players agree on a winner.
The players agree to replay.
The players don't come to an agreement. A referee or tournament organizer will make the decision for them using whatever information is available. That decision will be final and without discussion so the tournament can go on as smoothly as possible. Failure to comply will result in tournament ejection on the offending party.
Extra Players
Observers
- No private observers allowed
Referees
Any volunteer referees are welcome. Contact [EL] Impregnable through forum's private message or my email: yyj-101@hanmail.net
Referees are expected to be able to:
Be in the tournament chat room some time before the tournament starts.
Help people find their opponents.
Resolve disputes between players after watching the replays.
Referees can't play in the tournament.
Save and send me replays after each match
Referees have first say on rulings. If there is a dispute between refs and players, the dispute is brought up to the tournament organizers. The organizers will have final say on the matter.
Streamers
- One or more Primary Streamers will be designated prior to tournament start, and will ideally be 2 teams of a caster and co-caster.
- The main benefit of being a Primary Caster is priority in covering games. They are allowed first dibs on lobbies should they choose to exercise it.
- Other streamers are still free to stream as well as possibly earning compensation, so long as they meet the other requirements.
- Primary Casters can be designated and demoted by the tournament organizer at any time should the organizer see it fit.
- Streamers are also required to save and send me replays after each match
Casters
- This applies for those who want to get replays after tourney is done for casting.
Prizes
- No prizes yet unless people are donating. If the prizes are donated, below rules will apply
The actual prize pool will be shown in each MRT registration thread.
- Typically, prizes are granted in the form of Steam games, but on occasion there will be actual prize money.
- If both teammates on the same team want a particular prize, I'll award it to the one I first received the request from. If there are two copies of that peculiar game, there will be no problem.
The prize pool will be allocated as follows:
- 3 prizes to the winner of the final match of the tournament
- 2 prizes to the second place team of the tournament
- 1 prize will go to 3rd place team of the tournament
- If there are not enough donations, there will be no 3rd and 4th place deciding match and also second and third place teams will not be able to receive any prizes at all.
