Upcoming Patch wrote:Wraithguard:
- Wraithguard can no longer fire on the move.
- Wraithguard health increased from 666 to 700.
- Wraithguard Exarch can no longer leap or knockback targeted units. (suggestion)
I believe that if these changes make it through to the final release we should also think about buffing their firing pattern again to make up for the fact that they lost "fire on the move".
Code: Select all
wind up 1.25 burst duration 0–0 reload frequency 1–1
wind down 2.25 cooldown 0 reload duration 1.5–1.5
First I propose their wind up goes back to the value prior to patch 2.4.2 (where WG were changed to their current state). The wind-up back then was 1.0 making it a bit easier to acutally ground-target with them. Their speed should also be reverted to 3 from 2.5 again. It might even be worth to think about giving them back their old courage dmg since their dmg was reduced as well with the fotm introduction. The dmg should stay the same imo.
Now that WGs health has been buffed, the role that Caeltos had in mind for them comes out a little bit more: tanky fronline unit which the rest can follow into a ranged fight. If they indeed should fit that role, their sight should be sligthly increased again since they won't be seing jack-shit when spearheading with their current sight (30[5])
EDIT: tie it to the Warlock leader.
Since spearheading makes it absolutely mandatory that you purchase the Warlock Leader, his position in the squad should be revisited. Since he provides the WG the neccessary moving speed and WG will run in front the army with no other Wraithsight support than their own leader, it would be counter-intuitive to run them in first, knowing that he will die every single time you do so. He should be running
behind the squad not lead it.
What do you guys think?

Agree on courage damage up and keep damage down.
Agree on more lenient fire pattern (especially wind up to reduce misfire.). I'd be in favor of a wind up even lower then 1, in exchange for more cool down or wind down.
I'm indifferent in speed and vision changes.
Further health increases might be OK, as long as it's that OR speed, not both.
If focusing spearhead role is a goal, I feel health up would make sense. They walk forward taking fire and open space by threatening to stop and fire. I didn't find myself using WG very much tbh, because I could be making falcons or FD instead, or mixing in DR. I personally think losing fotm is good for the unit, I'll be able to direct its fire much better, though the hold fire might have fixed the problem.

I think you might be right on the hp. I can see their hp going up to ~750 per model if the damage and windup are kept reasonable. This is exactly the way I used to use wraithguard, but I was always punished heavily with the exarch being at the front of the formation.

Afaik, WG are mostly just getting reverted in changelog.

It doesn't look like it from the listed changes. They're only losing their fotm, and getting a bit more health. The damage they lost, as well as their windup, courage damage, and speed nerfs are all staying from what I recall off the top of my head from the last batch. Unless there are more changes not shown in the 2.6 one, in which case, feel free to ignore me as I'm mistaken.
Personally I would like to see these changes go through. The fact that they'd function like a front-line tank would be a massive boon after the Wraithlord nerf, and the Spiritseer positioning would be an absolute godsend. It would go so incredibly far to helping Wraithguard given that he dies at the drop of a hat, and always tanks the damage out front, leading to your guys getting blasted by the pseudo-synapse backlash when he gets killed.

i dont agree that courage dmg should go when if i remember right just 1 of WG models can just insta suppress giving the others free hits and insta retreat

I'm talking from the revision changelog in the background. I don't know what Aguxyz means. You want the courage damage reduced is what I gather?

KK i'll add that comment in, but the total reversion would go from 20 courage to 30 courage per hit.

If they are supposed to be a spearhead unit, they will need the courage dmg back though, Agu.

Why? The damage and speed increase is punishing enough imo.

But we agreed on their dmg staying as it is.

Straight from 2.4:
- Wraithguard can now fire on the move with 50% accuracy
- Wraithguard sight reduce from 40(5) down to 30(5)
- Wraithguard speed reduced from 3 to 2.5
- Wraithguard wind-up from 1.0 to 1.25 , weapon reload duration from 1.75 to 1.5.
- Wraithguard damage reduced from 144 to 122, courage damage reduced from 30 to 20
- Wraithguard cost increased from 400/50 to 400/60
- Reduced the movement speed bonus on Wraithguards from Wraithsight from 1.5 to 1.0
Reverting that means the increase in damage, less wind up and faster moving.

Yes, but I and the people who agree with me explicitly said that the damage should stay as it is.
