Death Corps of Krieg Stormtrooper/Kasrkin

Postby Commissar Yarrick » Tue 05 Mar, 2013 12:26 am

As you know I mostly play with Imperial guard and its Krieg DLC.
I noticed that the stormtroopers or Kasrkin could use LG default retinue models because then it would make the army look better (and more united). Of course they are called CADIAN Kasrkin but while they originate from Cadia, they can use different arsenal and armor (does not change their origin in any way).

LG retinue model (using custom colors): http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/576 ... 2C720D851/

As these models use weapons linked into their backpacks they would get far more use in earlier mentioned units. However I do not know how hard can it be to change their arsenal
into melta, nade, plasma etc. Or how can it be done to work in the DLC ONLY.

As you can see, Stormtroopers do not use weapon linked to backpack battery.

Explain how and why. People can click the link and see the pictures with ease.

that worked rather nicely.

i think i get what you're saying in your post: you were suggesting that the kasrkin use the same model as the LG's retinue, thereby benefiting from changes such as the one provided by the DKoK dlc .i didn't completely understand it the first time.

i'm not entirely sure that would happen, and it might screw up the weapon animations and the like, but it's certainly possible. one would really have to try it to figure out how well it works.

It's technically doable obviously but I don't see the point as the unit is specifically from Cadia and not Krieg.

Outfit does not change the fact what one is (Cadian Karskin can use different armor and still be from Cadia). This is only cosmetic. I am trying to say that In default armies (non DLC) Cadia Kasrkin use their normal skin but when one uses the DLC the Kasrkin use the retinue model.

So is this doable by the way I said?

play without krieg DLC = Normal Karskin model
play with Karskin DLC = Retinue model for karskin
(Possible to be manipulated this way in the game?)

The way I see it, weapon animations are not a problem since retinue use Hot-lassguns, meltas, grenade launchers with Lord general. Not sure about the plasma tough.

Ps. The art and tabletop models I have here explain why this should be like this.
Scepticism is understandable but as Indrid said to me few days ago: "It is a world with endless possibilities".

I agree with Lulgrim, they are from Cadia so should look Cadian.

Yes, it's technically doable, but I'd just as soon put Dark Angels armor on Ultramarines just because I can. It makes no sense so I'm not inclined.

But Cadia isnt the only Regiment that makes use of those kind of troops. Cadia just came up with a fance name for them pretty much.

Other regiments deploy them just under the name of "Grenadiers".
Its just that Cadia calls their Grenadier Units Kasrkin.
Thats also the reason why Kasrkin may have their own models in TT but not their own rules, they just get deployed as Grenadiers or Stormtroopers.

The only thing that "forces" DKoK to use the Cadian Models instead of their excellent but underused own ones is the name of the unit.

Technicly you could re-name the unit to "Grenadiers" and nothing would change but open up the option for DKoK players to get to use their own models.

Its not really the same situation like with the Catachan Devils that cant really be replaced by anything but well, Catachans themselves.

I just think its sad that we got this really awesome looking Death Krops Grenadiers and the only commander who gets to see them is the Lord General,

Inquisitors and Commissars dont. :(
