Dawn of War Codex

Fellow DoW 2 players,

I have a fresh install of DoW 2 Retribution and installed the latest elite mod version from this homepage. I checked, it is located in the same folder as the DoW 2 game itself.
When I try to start it via the desktop shortcut it connects to steam and then I get an error message:

Crash Report #2682433

Games for Windows Live has failed to install correctly. Please attempt to install it directly from the web: http://www.gamesforwindows.com/ Also, please install the latest version of DirectX: http://www.microsoft.com/directx

Does Elite mod need Windows live?? Also I have directx 12 and windows 10.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong here?

My original DoW 2 Retribution runs perfect still and of course I could play that but Chaos Terminators....

Maybe somebody has an idea what I could try.

Neither vanilla Retribution nor Elite require GFWL. Perhaps try reinstalling Elite?

I did reinstall it several times. always the same nonsensical error message..

if Retribution still working then it must be your downloading elite wrong I would get rid of all elite form your pc and start from fresh with elite installed

Only Vanilla and Chaos Rising should be giving you that message. Try uninstalling them and only launching Retribution.

So I uninstalled all dawn of war 2 content via steam and even deleted the dow ii folder in my steam folder. Then I installed only dow 2 retribution. Then I downloaded elite mod again from this website, installed it via the wizard and ... same error message.

Found the problem. It was my own fault!!

Apparently I have changed the installation folder for my steamlibrary a while ago, but I still have the steamfolder where it's supposed to be aswell.

Once the Elite mod installed in the correct folder everything worked out!
