First off all: Hello

I tried to install the game. (yes, in my steam folder). done that 3 or 4 times (with reinstalls). still doesnt works. When i start it, it crashes. My Pc is high-end so that cant be the reason. I play the game on german.

Install beta 3 then beta 4 and then finally beta 5.

If your game is set on German and your Steam on English try setting them both to the same language.

My friend had same problem.....

just delete and uninstall everything and remove any folders that is left behind. Just start from scratch, his is going fine now. Not sure what caused it or if half of the re-installing and deleting is nessessery but it worked after it and thats the main thing.

i'm pretty sure that he can't play cus he doesnt have beta 3, no need to start from scratch

will try that later. steam and game both on german, reinstalled 2 times ond drive c (deleted folder) and 1 times on drive d (which hasnt a folder). hope it will work, but i downloaded 5 cause it said it is FULL VERSION

It seems the latest full installer is missing the .module file from Retribution main folder. You can get it here.

on 1 computer it works but not on the second

have you tried again with the very latest beta?

you dont need beta 3 to play, you can install and just play with from beta 5 or 6
but you need english language i think
if you had pre versions of elite mod make sure its deleted.(if u had 2.1 delete the things from set launch options there, that was needed to launch elite 2.1)

my friend installed beta 6 over retail, and it fails to launch. i had him validate, then reinstall 5 first, then 6 again, same thing. Any suggestions?

try beta 3, 4, 5, 6. it's possible there's still some issue with 6.

I had to reinstall the whole game yesterday and installed only the beta 6 for elite and everything was working fine, his problems lies somewhere else.

Same thing:

New DOW2 retribution mint installation (steam) with beta 6 pack. It sends ma a crash report whenever i try to run the game.

are you able to launch retribution?
what is your method of launching the elite mod?
(if you followed the steam launch instructions from the front page by setting -modname ELITE thing, then it won't work for ELITE beta, have to set it to ELITE_beta. the automatically generated desktop shortcut has the correct launch options specified in the target)

Ok, i solved the problem moving the files out of the subdirectory installed by the auto-extractor.

This post is for those who had (eventually) the same problem as me, 'cause i didn't seen this possible solution in the guidelines.

P.S. I really like this mod!

Can you be a little more detailed about which folders and what files you moved, it would help me a great deal! Thanks!

The questions here contain pretty much zero information to base any sort of advice on, but based on the rather vague solutions posted, I will take a guess at the problem:

• Warez version without Steam, or a weird (some rare localization maybe) or otherwise fucked-up Steam install might result in the Elite installer not finding your game. If the installer can't find it, it will say so with a dialogue window to choose the path manually. If you don't know where your Retribution location is, I don't think you should be installing any sort of third-party mods at all.
• The default folder the mod is extracted to (if it didn't find a Steam installation and you didn't bother to read the screen when running the installer) is DOW2-ELITE on your Windows Desktop. The contents of this are supposed to be in the dawn of war ii - retribution folder.
• Under any circumstances, don't fucking touch the retail Retribution data folders/files. The mod has its own subdirectory and it doesn't modify or add into default data.
