Would it be possible to change the FC voice to Gabriel Angelos? If so, could enough support be gained to do a change?

Not if you're not planning to hire the Gabe actor to do all the lines for MP...

I'd be more than happy to just revert him to the old fc voice. Or use the old voice for fc and new voice for bk. I'm sure this has been brought up before though :p

Do you mean by old FC voice, the FC who was Hair-etical :p? The two FC voices for FC and BC is a nice idea, first time I heard about it. It is disappointing that Gabriel is unavailable, I have heard his voicelines which are the same as the FC but I guess that must have been in DoW2 or CR.

In a few older games my mate used to be able to add his own sounds to a units voice overs. He had Hooligans SOE and put all his own voices in.... so when normally in the game if you clicked on a guy he would say "What can i do for ya?", he would change them all to recording he done of his own voice, so when you clicked on a guy its "lets kick some fucking heads in" lol and all that kinda stuff in your own voice.

Are you able to do that in Elite are ya or any of the other dows?. Be funny and of course you could use audio software to do your own serious voice overs for whatever unit. Anyways its prob a mute point as its probably heresy to talk about changing the voice overs but it was neat being able to customize them.

Adding new Lines in DoWII is a bit of a pain.

But I think Lulgrim is actually looking into it, so we might add new voices for some of the newly added units.

Thomas has made some progress with custom voices but no matter how much you mock Captain Braindamage, he does have a full professional-quality voice set and I can't see us replacing that with amateur voices. The project is for new units that lack voices.

If you are saying revert him to Hair-gel voice, I'll just say, once more for clarity, we're not allowed to mod in parts of vanilla dow2 and CR into retribution, because retri is stand-alone.

I presume simply replacing the audio files would work, as there are localized versions already. But there are a LOT of lines... I can't see someone going through so much work for luls.

I mean, I have the game in Spanish, with all the voices in Spanish. If the new voices (Raptors, Chaos Terminators and Land Raider Phobos, for example) are implemented, I will have half army speaking Spanish, half army speaking English? Because in that case, I will prefer keeping the current voices.

And with the FC could be even lulzy. Depending of how would be implemented, I could have a linguistic Gabriel Angelos, now speaking Spanish, now English. O even bipolar one, now speaking as Gabriel, now as Eliphas, because the lines are mixed, or...

Thats why i was asking is it possible to personilise your own voice overs that will run from the sound directory and not effect the games DLL

well, you'll end up with a multicultural army and everyone(tm) says that multiculturalishness is good.

on a more serious note, that wouldn't bother me but it would be odd and i can't speak for other people.

Well I can safely say there will not be localized versions of Elite... we're lucky if we can get any sort of audio on the new units.

And why I don't change to English? Because the Spanish version have awesome voices, IMHO some of them even better than the original ones. Even Diomedes sounds less retarded in Spanish than in English.

It's incredible what voice actors can do.

If you're interested John DiMaggio (the voice of Bender from Futurama) will be releasing his movie 'I Know That Voice' about voice acting some time before Christmas. I definitely recommend it and can't wait for it myself.
