Yeah, my first instinct is to check the graphics options both inside the game and in your monitor.

I have a similar problem, but it's much worse. It also occurs in both Elite and retail. How do I fix this?

I've had the blurry screen thing happen to me. Usually it resets when you enter a menu and come back to the main menu. As for the prior issue, it looks to me more like an incorrect resolution setting in either the game or the monitor.

I should have specified I already do this but was hoping for a permanent solution. Guess I'll just have to deal with it like the trillion other bugs in this game . Thanks anyway

I had this once when I didn't have the latest graphics card update, so check that out.
