Chaos Dreadnought Underslung Bolter DPS?

The Chaos dreadnought gets bolters attached to it after it gets a mark (either tzeentch or khorne). They go pew pew at stuff the Chaos dread is attacking.

Does anyone know the DPS values for them?

I can't find it in the changelog, the Codex section on dawnofwar.info or even in the Retribution wiki for retail.

Or maybe I'm crazy and they are just for show and don't actually do any damage :?:

Chaos Dreadnought

Walker Vehicle equipped with an Autocannon and Power Claw, effective against all targets both at range and in melee. Can replace Autocannon with a Missile Launcher that improves anti-Vehicle capability or a second Power Claw for added close-combat damage. Speed 4.5, 70 Melee Skill, 9.46 dps Piercing Damage (Hull Bolter, x2), 22.86 dps Autocannon Damage (Arm Autocannon), 73.33 dps Heavy Melee Damage (Power Claw).

From Kolaris? Detailed Tool Tips Mod

Yeah, it does damage.

But, in few words, the Underslung Bolter is designed as fuck. Some weeks ago I tried to modify it, trying to add firing sounds and muzzle.

After some hours I only obtained mediocre results, because I couldn't be able to modify the values to synchronize the firing animation, the firing sounds and the muzzle. It seems it have his own firing pattern, which don't match with any other of the game.

In fact, if you buy the Chaos Dread Mark of Khorne upgrade, you obtains the second claw BUT also you obtains a second Underslung Bolter on the second claw's side. But, in contrast to the original one, this new one don't shoot.

Relic you noob.

You do it with delays and repeats.

Isn't that easy, I'm afraid.

I explained myself better. The Underslung Bolter are independent weapons: have its own damage, burst, range, reload time, etc... BUT at the same time, the graphic part aren't.

First of all, the weapon (Underslung Bolter) is merged with the Chaos Dread model, in contrast to the Autocannon or the Missile Launcher. This isn't a big problem, because the Chaos Dread motiontree includes the act_bolter_fx action, where is implemented the muzzle effect and the firing sound.

The main problem AFAIK that I found (at least compairing the Chaos Dread to other dreads) it's that the Underslung Bolter don't have the "Behaviour" parameters to control the muzzle/firing sound graphic effect. Without this, if you want to see that effects you needs to add the act_bolter_fx action to almost all the Chaos Dread animations, which is a shitty solution.

As I said, designed as fuck.

I'm still unclear on the problem. How is that different from adding fx to other (e.g. blank) models?

Note: I'm using the Model Editor program.

Let's take the Dread Assault Cannon.

The Dread Assault Cannon model have the muzzle/firing sounds "Actions" (and the muzzle/firing sounds of the Barrage). In the Dread model (which haves the main body of the Dread) in "Actions" the "Action" for the muzzle shooting graphic action (att_weap_ranged_fire_fx) makes a "action_call" for the muzzle graphic designated on the Dread Assault Cannon model "Action" (weapon_ranged_fire_fx)

Then comes the "Behaviour", where controls when and how should be displayed the muzzle, which "State" is designated in "Data Table".

Now let's return to the Chaos Dread Underslung Bolter. The Muzzle/Firing sounds "Actions" are into the main Chaos Dread model, not into a separate model. In principle this isn't a problem.

Also, the Underslung Bolter don't have an animation. This isn't a big problem though, because the Wraithlord Mounted Shuriken Cannon/Brightlance also don't have an animation.

The main problem, AFAIK with my limited knowledge are that the Underslung Bolter don't have an adequate "Behaviour" to control the muzzle/firing sounds and when they should be displayed. In fact, the Chaos Dread model have in "Data Table" in "State Machines" have a special state called "stormbolters_state". But it seems it doesn't work very well.

Yes... And you are not adding the proper action/behavior for it because...?

Now seriously. I tried to make an adequate Behaviour to show the muzzle/firing sound when "stormbolters_state" is in "fire", but it seems is wrong or incomplete. But also I don't know if that "stormbolters_state" is operational or not.

I'm going to make more tests.

I only just noticed this today! I've never seen or heard mention before! :o

I suppose the addition of the underslung bolter si kinda like the Falcon, where it just has tons of different weapons put together that in retail simply weren't differentiated.
