Chaos Sorcerer Advice

Hi all

I've been really trying to main Chaos Sorcerer for about a week or two now, after being inspired by Chaos Librarian's replays.
Having quite a bit of trouble in places though, so I'm coming here for advice yet again!
I always previously just played Chaos Lord because I never mained Chaos, and Chaos Lord is on par with Lictor Alpha in terms of "pick up and win" value, so this means I've had a lot of adjusting to do with playstyle. I can't just attack move no more!

1. Build? I've tried 1-1-1-1, 2-1-1-1, 2-1-2-0, 3-0-2-0, and lots of other crazy shenanigans but I just can't find a build I'm comfortable with.
Another thing about my builds is that I never feel like I have a capping unit? If I'm losing map control, it's incredibly difficult to choose a unit to break off from the formation, because 9 times out of 10 I'll then lose an engagement which I feel that I could have won had the missing unit been there.

2. Double heretics? Thus far, I just can't get comfortable with having 2 units that bleed me so much. My army comp just feels like a mess when I'm microing. And upgrades feel like they're pretty mandatory if I want them to be combat heretics. But they're lovely to have around for Sorc consumes.

3. Non-2xCSM builds? Any advice on making them work against the generic tanky melee commander? I'm pretty lost for what to do without my double csm focus fire.

4. Use of the Sorcerer? I now tend to keep him as a >nearby< capping unit. He doesn't really hold up to focus fire in engagements so I like to time a good doombolt and then tell him to bugger off again (until T2 anyway).

5. Had a shit game against a Lictor Alpha which anyone may be able to critique. My build was pretty all over the place in fairness, as I really just wanted to test out Raptors. Any critique on overall playstyle would be amazing.

Excuse me at the end of the game. Yes, I'm a sore loser nowadays. I'm working on it, ok

Add me and we can do some games - {LoE} Torpid, is my name atm.

The LA vs CS MU is an interesting one, I want to do some work on it myself from a CS perspective. I think the builds you ought to go as the CS are super map dependent.

Also if you know they're going for the tanky melee heroes then 2x CSM is actually very viable, even in 1v1.

Ben is a great player and the LA is the LA, not to mention you're just starting out with the CS so I wouldn't worry about that too much, also tanky melee heroes have always been a tough MU for the CS.

Im a firm believer in a heavy t1 for any hero classified as support or the like. 3heretics csm havocs. Then get nm and raptors as situational picks to either counter a big blob or to counter a supression team. Ur thirs herrtic is on capping duty all game. This should help with ur mc problem other then that step up ur micro and macro the sorc is an intensive hero considering those 2 things

I play almost exclusively CL and PC when i play Kayosss but my personal favorite is tic, csm, tic, havoc, nm and what upgrades/wargear you need. Sorc is one of the hardest heroes to play in the game imo. At least he requires quite a lot more micro himself than some other heroes and Tworship is also a bit more taxing to micro than other forms of worship.

Generally I'd say double tics (especially in 1v1) are a must in most MUs since you probably want at least one with your army as worship support and for consuming while one is capping the map. Going for three heretics is also totally viable. Noisy's CS play is pretty darn good so you should probably check some of his replays (he favors the 3 tic, csm, havoc opening Soul_Drinkers mentioned). Tex is also very good with Sorc so his CS replays are also worth checking out.

tic, csm, tic, havok
1ac, 1nade launchers, ew
t2
bc

Works every time in every map and mu.

Sorc has awesome synergy with tics and poor synergy with csm --> double or triple tics is the way to go here.

and for the melee commanders which would make such tic builds a nightmare just double/triple up on the suppression.

Thanks fellas. Noticing the poor CSM synergy, though I usually like at least one against certain armies to deal with HI linebreakers (ASM, Ogryns, etc).

Had a game against IG and found out that Blastmaster Noise Marines are fucking invaluable against Ogryns (or the IG army in general tbh). Combined with Chains of Torment, Ogs just get forced off post-haste.

Despite this, I really want to try a Night Lords inspired 2x Raptor build. But with Chaos T2's AV nerfs, I'd be shoehorned into getting a havoc too for AV (I think?), so this build would be rather expensive in power terms and I'd have to try hard to bash the enemy's farm.
2/3-0-1-0-2 I'm thinking, but we'll see.

gg man. In fairness, I got a lot of lucky breaks from mid-late game. Especially the Sentinel kill and Chimera kill.

think of ways to deliver doombolt to a good player that is paying attention. there are some great combo options and doombolt will make almost anything retreat.
1. (optionally infiltrated) havok -> doombolt
2. (preferably infiltrated) tic doomblast -> doombolt
3. raptor jump -> doombolt
4. tic nade barrage -> doombolt

and of course, consume lots of heretics. :)

one more replay i would recommend watching is Chaos Librarian(CS) vs. Eye0fHorus(TM) from Indrid and/or Stevebud. chaos librarian hated getting CSMs, so he has a distinct CS playstyle. i'd even say chaos librarian was one of the reasons why CS got so popular as of recent.

or sub commanders.

speaking of which; can consume target enemy units? either way, it should probably be unable to target single unit squads and expensive ones like terminators if that's possible to prevent.

Subjugate enemy termies and consume a model with guo for more lolz.
