Orbital Fail

Maestro Cretella was kind enough to post a replay I sent to him a while back. He put it up last week and it was me vs Jashxin. To brighten your day, please watch and the video and go to the 24th minute and watch the biggest failure of an orbital bombardment ever.

The replay felt good at the time but now watching it I realise how bad my gameplay was

Haha, I saw that one and it was amusing.

The only way to truly get better at the game is through practice and analysis. By playing a game and sending it to a better player to get them to give their verdict on it, not to mention seeing the comments of other players (try to ignore the comments of those who don't even play -_-), you've clearly started to go down that path and so I would imagine you've started to venture down the path of getting better!

that was pretty awesome, but don't worry about it man, kvek blew up his own wartrukk with a tankbuster barrage the replay for that can be found here.

Everyone makes mistakes, don't worry about it :D

Oh yeah. That OB belongs to a hall of fame/shame it was beautiful. :D

Anyway +1 to what Torpid said. Just play some games and try to identify the problems. Oh, and don't be afraid to ask for help. There are some very helpful ppl here in the forums. :)

That replay was truly interesting to watch. And that moment was just awesome. Such mistakes are always fun. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean anything offensive or something like that.

I tried to grenade some retreating orks once and promptly walked over my own grenade with my scouts. 2 scouts died, leaving the sarge and 1 other member with like, 50 hp.

The ork warboss then rolls up around the corner with his custom shoot and 1 bursts the sarge into oblivion

Fail replays are the best replays because it's literally the hard method of teaching yourself not to make the same mistake twice (or three times ... maybe four? As is the case with me sometimes). But yeah, everyone makes 'em.

On the topic of fail-replays, do we have anyone that does analysis of low-mid level games?

I was thinking it'd be cool if someone did something like Day[9]'s newbie tuesday segment where he looks at players that struggle/overcome their struggles and highlights places people can improve...

I'd be willing to supply you with some, and I'm sure other people would. Maybe make a forum topic specifically for submissions and stuff?

I might like to do a Day-9 esque thing but I'm pretty newb and my computer probably wouldn't handle it :/

If you can run fraps, and a voice recorder at the same time it shouldn't be a problem. You could even just watch the replay, take notes, then like record the game and voice over commentary later...

Shalesey used to do some "learn to play" casts that were quite good. His website is down and he seems to have moved on to league of legends but some of his old casts are on youtube.

god no, don't listen to anything shalesey says/said he was a clown of dow2 getting carried hard on the 2v2/3v3 ladder by his friends who were actually good.

Honestly, if people want feedback on replays I can do personal feedback on it, or I can cast it in the same vein as I would do a replay analysis cast. That way the content would also reach my youtube channel and/or twitch. That said, if people want to keep it private for whatever reason, I can do that too.

That said, I've also got commitments to my team in dota and the league we're participating in, so I've only got one or two free days a week. Therefore it might be a bit slow to process replays.

Send me a message if anyone is interested.

I've been wanting to do what Indrid, Rupee, and Maestro do, only for the beginners. Do some replays and get some feedback for the players and work on my vocal skills, since I'm an aspiring voice actor. I just need a crash course on how to do it.

I can sent you a pretty nice game i played yesterday i think it deserves a cast (it was like 28-0),if you are still interested. Keep in mind that it's not a high caliber game ( a lot of misplays) still fun to watch and cast-worthy imo.

I have also been thinking of doing the stuff that TGZero mentions for half a year now (mentioning it now just makes it seem like I just jumped on the boat to be cool) but I have a lot of stuff that limits me from doing these streams/casts  . You can always send me replays if you want feedback, though I do not expect a flurry of them...

...Or even any at all.
