Hi all
I'm elenneth, elenneth for the friends.
I've been playing Wh40k tabletop edition since 2006 (eldar then SW) and now I entered in the marvelous world of the digital version! Hurray!
All the credits have to be given to Mr. Indrid and his wonderful casts, which help me to understand the basic mechanics of the game and are a good way to improve my game.
Talking about games, after a couple of matches against the hard AI, I got bored, and I would like to try some "real action" with human opponents, but I didn't catch quite the on-line part...
Is there a dedicated server or similar? Expecially for one who like me is just gaming from 3 days...
Since I'm broke and waiting for buying the game on my own, right now I'm steal... using my lil brother steam account in order to play.
If you want talk about the japanese verb でござります, have fun with an italian wannabe farmer and his funny english, or simply play some matches, you are the most welcome.
BTW, is there some tactical guide/list of tips/magical tome I can follow in order not to fall in despair when I try to build the build (xD) of my lock?

So what's it like in Japan from european's point of view? Been to a pokemon center yet?

here we have 6 pokemon centers, and in 2 weeks I've been in 4 of them, nuff said...
I don't know your expectations about the matter, but beside being an awesome store with 50 cm froakie pillows and apple-sized masterballs, there's no so much stuff... but I did manage to get a wartorle figure! (why the hell they have different name for the pokémon I will never know)
the people is kind (too kind), there're no baskets on the streets (trust me, no one in a 10km radius), they train are on time, every time! and they call the beer "biiru", which is similar to building "biru" (needed two years to master this)

ah yes, they do drive on the wrong side of the road =)

I play the tabletop game too. I'm also a board member at our local gaming club/organization, leading the club in our 40K events, etc. Sadly no local store nearby anymore :/ We are instead situated in a room behind a bar. Easy drinking access!
Current 40K club champion too, having hold that title the most and for the longest.
Started out with the undying spirit of Pedro Kantor and his Crimson Fists! Needed that spirit when I started because I got my but kicked very hard! As expected I guess ^^ Playing Blood Angels now, still with an older codex but I don't care because I love Apothecaries (Brother Corbulo) and Assault Space Marines.
With some Space Puppies Rune Priest abuse in the allied section of course

If you play Elite their is no automatch function. (yet?) You play in public or private custom games. Best way to set up games is by jumping in the Steam Group chat for the Elite mod. Lulgrim also set up a custom Elite Mod ranked ladder for us to use. You can use this to find opponents of equal skill once you played a couple of ranked games yourself so you can see what your own skill level is. How this works is explained here.

Best way to learn is to play yourself. Save the replays of the games you lose
(or even games you won) and analyze them. What went wrong? What worked well?
You can always ask for specific help, tips or opinions here. Watching 1v1 replays of decent other people can help too or watch the YouTube channels that analyze these 1v1 games. Still, nothing beats first hand experience.

But train and bus time schedules are more like guide lines instead of rules here I hear the train stations give "official notes" to the people traveling in the rare case that their train is even mere minutes late so they don't get in trouble for being late at work, etc. Can you confirm that Elenneth?

welcome to the online world. The ELITE community is relatively small, but growing every day, as you yourself have noticed I am sure. If your in Japan and looking for the "best" sushi you have ever had try Jiro's Sushi House. Mighty expensive though. 30k yen to start!. My other favorite curry restaurant is CoCo Ichi, though they are more the fast food version of the food there.

As far as learning, riku is right, the best way to learn is to practice. Don't get me wrong I HATE losing and so I avoid 1v1 games. As long as you try to mention you are brand spanking new people should be forgiving.

well the US is like the .5 world and in cali the buses are 10-15 minutes late at the end of the route most of the time. when they were working on the tunnel they were 20 minutes to half an hour late... half hour schedule though so it was like the bus was on time lol. no idea about the trains as i have not had the opportunity to take one yet.

Tbh, it will take a huge change in my life to ever go back to riding the bus. With that said though, most of you guys don't have to deal with Canadian winters...

After 4 month, the only 10 minutes of delay I experienced were caused by a huge fire near the railway, so ordinary stuff... Sometimes one decides to end his life under the weels, but the Japanese are so skilled that they manage to clean everything in about 2 minutes, so not big deal
Here it's been calculated that in a year of service the sum of the total delay is one day. In Italy for every day of service we have a day of delay...

For the sushi I usually go to Kaiten Zushi, where each plate is 105 en, waaay more convenient for my student wallet, and the quality is pretty high, at least compared to Italy.

On satarday it was +2 c by monday morning it was - 35 c Got to love it.

But yes this is y mass transit has a hard time working in Canada, hell iv literly ran my truck 24 / 7 for 4 mounth strait before only turning it off to do oil changes

i'm from alaska. daily transit is actually worse here in cali than back home. although there was one time i waited for two hours before the bus finally showed up due too snow...

I'm no Dark Riku or anywhere near a pro but I know the joys of being new. I too am a tabletop gamer of the Eldar persuasion but found Eldar way to difficult on Elite.

I started at Chrismas this year with no experience of RTS online and found those first few games online very tough as its nigh on impossible to beat anyone with any level of skill. However there is a thriving beginners community on Steam which is great for practicing as everyone is in the same boat and I found myself getting better all the time.
