Damage aura damaging mines

I don't think passive damage auras, like that of the GUO, should damage mines.
GUO aura killing mines.

It probably shouldn't damage vehicles either. Thoughts?

agreed, that seems kinda dumb :/
what other things do that?

AOE attacks damaging stuff like that makes sense but passive abilities shouldn't be able to destroy mines or damage vehicles, that just seems a bit much.

out of curiosity, does anyone know if the cloud of nurgle(name?) global does the same thing?

I can't see a reason why Nurgle's cloud would not damage mines. It obviously damage vehicles. GUO aura should not damage mines indeed.

I dont have an issue with the cloud damaging mines, I was just curious if it actually did.

I'll mirror everyone by saying the cloud makes sense, as nurgle's rot can infect and taint vehicles/machines, so from a lore and logical perspective, I don't see why not.

As for the aura, I might actually be in favour of keeping it depending on what the aura is exactly. If the concept is similar to the cloud and nurgle's pests are capable of corrupting machine spirits, it would definitely make sense that it should damage mines.

It's nice if it fits the lore and all but let's keep that secondary to the actual game balance :P. I'm definitely with OP, it shouldn't affect mines especially when they come with a pretty substantial red investment. With that said it is a superunit with a certain trait that should be accounted for but even so, having it clear a minefield by just standing in the vicinity for about 4 seconds.. that's too free.
It probably shouldn't damage vehicles either.

Don't think it does, even if it did that'd be a measly 0.15 dps since it's piercing_pvp dmg.

Though I agree with it the waste of red, I'm not sure that it necessarily pertains to just mines dropped by the commissar. In particular, it could be more in reference to GK Storms, Mekboy, Kommando Knob and Techmarine, who use mines with energy instead (correct me if I'm wrong on this, I don't often get the war gear that pertains to this).

Furthermore, the GUO is a pretty substantial investment so I don't exactly see it as being "too free", as you put it. It's an added benefit to counter mines, but I don't see it as awfully unbalancing.

I have no problem with his aura killing mines. He's a super unit ffs...

I have more of a problem with the avatar giving a permanent mega buff to anything within eyeshot of him.

Mines being destroyed by the aura kinda fits the fluff and all. Balance wise I am not quite sure. Having mines spontaneously detonate around your GUO might not always be advantageous. But generally it probably is nice.

I think GUO is easily worth its price even without the aura damaging mines. Tbh I am rather indifferent since I view the issue as a very minor one. Depends a bit on the GUO aura radius though. I haz no idea what is ze radius of ze aura. I would imagine it being fairly small.

Btw. Do IoN and Holy Puré have the similar effect of destroying mines? I would imagine they do nothing to mines but I don't know fo sho.

I think this is an oversight design-wise, as the quite low piercing DPS of the auras is negligible on most buildings and vehicles. However mines have very low HP and what durability they have is more due to their size, which is ignored by the AoE.

Not sure if this warrants a change balance-wise.

I can see how mines detonating while your units are walking safely on them (thanks to a detector) can be bad for you.

Well mines don't see much action that late into the game, but I think it should be changed, it doesn't really make sense for the guo to passively destroy them imo.

It does seem like an oversight and yea it's a minor one. Tbh the lc minefield can still have an impact on him since the aura will not disable the mines before he reaches them given his speed of 4.5 and aoe radius 15 (for reference the noxious cloud has radius 12, but 3x the dmg) if he walks straight towards them.
I'm wondering thou if mines get revealed even without detection when they take damage? I can't remember. Regardless, it may not be a huge deal but I still think the can't- touch-this minesweeper trait is unneeded for the GUO.

Elfy and I used Commissar Mines + Mek Electric armor a few times to great effect. Gibs armies, but hard to pull off.
