ASM Jump

I have a now increasingly annoying issue to bring up. When ASM jump into combat and disrupt a unit they often instead of attacking and engaging the damn unit they landed on re target and attack another unit that's actually further away. Its maddening and if i remember correctly Raptors do the same. Is this working as intended? It requires more Micro to manage them than i think is fair as now you have to not only jump them into a squad but then re target during the intial jump.

You Need exactly One Click More. I am sure you can fit this into your Micro.

I'm not sure how this is a balance discussion either.

Does shifting clicking jump then on the desired unit work? (Usually don't play sm)

Not sure. But I'm pretty sure it has to do with targeting priority. Just like moving tanks...so yeah, you need to right click once.

No. Shift commands do not work after a unit has jumped, teleported, burrowed, ...
You basically get "clean" unit with no commands on them.
You have to start microing them again right after the jump.

All jump units do this, how is it an ASM only issue?

But jump and shift melta bomb target works. Dont see why jump shift attack target wouldnt work.
But this should be in general discussion.

it doesn't; try it with the WSE. you're right about abilities though.

When the unit is in midair you can shift+[whatever] the next command i.e. when your ASM are in the air, you can hold shift and right click a unit and they will attack that unit upon landing, or you can press the hotkey for meltabombs so the targeting cursor comes up, THEN hold shift while you click your target. You can also queue up movement commands after that, so you can melta something and immediately move your ASM away without them hopping towards something. It takes a little practice to get down but it's worth it. Because teleportation is near-instantaneous, you can't really input commands mid-teleport, so that's why it doesn't for work the mek, WSE, etc.
You can incorporate jumps/teleports into a series of commands as long as it's the last one. Everything after the jump/teleport is forgotten. So you can hold shift, do a bunch of movement commands, release shift and press the jump/teleport hotkey, then press shift again and select your jump/teleport destination. If you continue to hold shift and add more commands they'll be lost.

Nice to know your mainly a buynch of morons with attitudes on this forum. Congratz guys a simple answer would suffice instead of veiled insults by a bunch of raging nerds. Thanks regardless i thought it WAS an ASM only issue tho i do recall Raptors doing it as well. One click more sarcasm is nice guys i will bare that in mind. Its a frustrating annoying habit of the game but now i think about it because the jump is not a specific target ability it makes sense. Tho why the ASM or Raps Prio a more distant target is beyond me but clearly its my fault. Wankers

The replies you got look completely neutral to me. Throw another fit like that and you're probably banned (depending on my mood).

It's especially easy to do if you anticipate the jump/teleport ie you order it while the unit is not in range yet, thus gaining the time to issue the attack command right as your squad lands/appears from the warp. I do it all the time with my spiders.

That's probably a bit excessive. A couple were fairly passive aggressive replies.
While it's not an excuse for his angry rant, I can definitely see how unpleasant it would be.

I agree with you Krakza. But not everyone was hostile; I think that's worth mentioning.

Nah it was a bit of a knee-jerk reaction on the OP's behalf really.

This isn't passive aggressive. It is downright hostile. I ccompletely agree with the OPs interpretation, though not with his reaction.

Yeah, I don't see the passive aggressiveness. I think it's just a misunderstanding, which led to an overreaction.
The jump unit thing has always been a bit of a bother, but c'est la vie. Click once more for the glory of the emperor brah.

I suppose it depends how you interpret it then.
It was the first post by Phoenix, mainly.
On one hand you might look at it as he's just putting down the facts in a 'to the point' manner.
But on the other side, it can quite easily be seen as him blatantly talking down to the OP.
Regardless, the OP's reaction was over the top, but at the same time I believe the warning was over the top too. If he perceives that he is receiving aggression from the members, and then a strong warning from a mod - it will create a feeling that he is being ganged up on.
It doesn't help them start fitting in to the community, that's all I'm getting at.

Drama drama drama. Why is it never sufficient to just tell someone they're wrong or they're right?
