A beginners tournament hosted by the Elite Begginners group

Hello there

This is Swift, a relative noob at Dawn of War II having clocked only 350 hours on the game. I am a moderator in the group DOW2 Elite Begginners http://steamcommunity.com/groups/DoW2_Elite_Beginners (yes, it is actually spelled incorrectly, so you know) owned by RyanM7074. We have both had an idea for a while that as the group neared 200 members, that we should host a beginners 1 versus 1 tournament to promote the group itself and provide more variety within the small community that we are part of.

I understand that there have been two beginners tournaments in the past and they have been generally well received by most of the community (or that is what I have gathered, maybe more see them as a waste of time) so we thought that by advertising it here on the forum that we could get some outside help and advice. The reason that we are doing this is because whilst this is a tournament for the Elite Beginners, we decided that we still needed some outsiders who are high up in the main group to get it noticed and get non beginners group member to join in.

The tournament has not been finalised as the beginners group has only known about it for a day so far, but in terms of how it would work, we hoped to copy the MRT format as it is a well known one.

It has been suggested that we hold this tournament in Easter, but the exact date has not been finalised. I know that this could potentially be an issue as the 2v2 tournament is coming up on the weekend, so if it was to be held in Easter it might be a bit too close to the previous tournament.

If you have any thoughts then you can post them on the thread or find the discussion on the Elite Begginners page http://steamcommunity.com/groups/DoW2_E ... iscussions

If you must stalk us then you can message me or any of the other mods on Steam. I can usually be found in the main group chat and the Elite Begginners chat.

The group mods are:
Ryanm7074 [owner]
Swift [moderator]
JL3 [moderator]
Discreet [moderator]
Marutectz [moderator]
Raggs [moderator]

If you do talk to those people, they might be able to help, but be careful, not all of them know that much about this tournament.

Would be all for Beginner's Tourneys, especially ones "off schedule" from the normal end of the month affairs.

Question; by Easter which Easter do you refer to? There's actually two different dates depending on which religious sect you observe.

I believe Swift is talking about the Easter holidays, starts this weekend for me here in Scotland but I'm not to sure when about they start for others or if they even have the holidays.

I am glad that I have a few responses (Ryan, yours does not count, you know why). It would be better if some more connected users could see this thread however.

i'd make, or move, a thread in general discussion; it's relevant and would probably get more views.

What I meant is Greek Easter and Easter? I don't think they're at the same time this year. I'll assume normal Easter. In any case, I would be glad to play!

Apparently they're the same day this year. I had to look it up though; I celebrate Greek Easter, too :)

kk well idk about a tourney being on the exact same day as Easter since obviously I'll be doing Easter things, but on the weekend/latter part of the week would be good for me.

I would prefer actual helpful comments, not Easter egg talk. I need other people to see this who can actually make a difference.
