Astra Militarum (Imperial Guard 2.0)

So it would seem Astra Militarum brings to light Nork Deddog in his new image as well as brining Imperial Guard much needed "up close and personal" kind of support in form of MORE ogryns.

What do you think? I personally say that this is great for ogryns are the best suited "men" in Astra Militarum capable of withstanding lot of punishment as well as dishing out the same amount in close combat unlike other Guardsmen and rest of the human ilk.

Still I would have loved to see what would Guardsman 2.0 look like but it apears to be so taht GW wants to keep the Classic look intact. Alas seeing a Guardsman follow Astra Tempestus suite would be sill.

Do share your thoughts.

Furthermore! This is a request for all our Character model developers out there in ELITE mod. Please consider creating a new model for Storm Troopers in form of Militarum Tempestus.

Bullgryn T3 upgrade please. New models are nice but I still think less is more. Take the Dark Reapers for example. They look very 'meh' and I hate how the projectiles they fire magically appear in the air in front of them instead from their guns. And the Exarch has that skull practically digging into his chest.

I've read the Codex(first one to buy it in my country 8-) ) but it seems to me that Bullgryns are just a 15 point upgrade that gives them +1 to their armour save. Am I missing something?

Shields could make them suppression immune.

Umm... I'm not sure how that relates to my post

Think he is suggesting an ELITE Upgrade for them.

I think the current Cadian Kasrkins could (should) be changed to become the new Tempestus Scions. They give the oportunity to make much nicier models and new abilities and special weapons, instead of just being an enhanced storm troopers squad.

Perfect opportunity to make a new Storm Troopers skin and leave the old model for Grey Knight.

Two race having the same model seems very odd to me.

Well, IG and =][= share Stormtroopers in the TT and Fluff too, so.
But yeah, if we haf new models ofcourse it would be great for IG.

Yes, but my post was a question about TT rules as there are no armour saves in DoW 2

Ahem.
But anyways, I'd say that Elite mod Kasrkin already look quite close to scions (pretty sure GW just decided to expand the idea to fit other regiments than Cadian ones).

...and I wonder if it's possible to code an ability that would make unit that uses it block LoS for the purpose of shooting or turn them into angry cover that acts like Eldar's deployable shields? Just thinking about slab shield implementation if it's needed ofc.
It's especially interesting if they can remain mobile in the process.

I still think the following could be interesting:

Use the Cadian Kasrkin models for the IG Storm Troopers (that way GK Inquisitorial troopers and IG stormtroopers wil have different models)
Create models to represent Tempestus Scions, a unit that would replace Cadian Kasrkins in current IG Tier 3.

Tempestus Scions would come with frag and krak grenades, and would keep the Plasma Rifles and Meltaguns options, and also could add the following:
Volley Rifles: rapid fire hot-shot rifles. Powerful and spread damage like heavy bolters, so they are effective against infantry and heavy infantry, but halves its range while the carrier is moving (or have set-up time or can't fire on the move). Maybe this should replace the Plasma Rifles option?.

Special Ops: upgrade that gives the Valkiry deplyment ability.
Valkiry Deployment; a valkiry comes to the battlefiled, carries the unit and then drops it anywhere on the battlefield withing line of sight of friendly units.
The animations for this could be the same animation for valkiry delivery, performed on the squad's position but without the container drop, then the unit dissapears. Shorty after, a valkiry makes another landing on the targeted location and drops the unit.

Hot-Shot Volley Guns would be awesome :D

Also, I'm not really a GW guy, but is the Astra Militarum still going to be referred to as the Imperial Guard in fluff and stuff, but casually rather than as an official title? Just I did like that name and its in all the novels and stuff so...

I am not sure to agree or disagree.
It would be nice but I would still keep the default Storm troopers in t2 and replace the cliché Karskins and put the Tempestus Scions as replacement.

eh, i'd leave IG as they are and change the models for GK if it new models became available. they new armour is the same asthetics as the GK and not at all close to IG.

We just need to wait and see if next Grey Knights Codex will shed light into this case but now I am content that Tempestus Scions skin goes for IG and IG only. Why, one might ask. Becauase they use different gear altogother, not to mention the tier each one is purchased from in the game.

In short. GK t1 storms > IG t2 storms > IG t3 storms Karskin/Scions.
Might as well make them look like it, the higher the tier, greater the badass(ery).

Regardless I still see STorm troopers put into these 3 regiments even when not lorewise: Storm Troopers (both regular and Karskin) - Inquisitorial Storm troopers - Militarum Tempestus

It's a joke making fun of copious usage of faux latin in the new book.
"Imperial Guard" is still often used in the book, by the way. It's just possibly the first time they used "high" name for a faction in book's name (as opposed to codexes like Space Marines, Daemonhunters etc.).

Personally, I think that Kasrkins really do not need replacing, they are such nice models as they are.

According to my idea, they wouldn't dissapear, they just would work as the normal Storm Troopers.

Why don't you replace Stormtroopers with tempestus Scions instead, rather than shift kasrkins around as well?

Because to me it feels like puting a King's crown upon peasant's head. Besides, its up to caeltos and lulgrim not to mention to one who makes the model. Assuming if it gets done at all.

I've seen some of the artwork for Stormtroopers in Codices and such. The way they made such accurate and detailed models for things like... Warp spiders, for example, is a big let down when it comes to the way stormtroopers look. They have a big derpy looking mask, their equipment seems more like they're going camping instead of to a battle, and they just plain don't LOOK like elite infantry with all the bells and whistles.

Well, aside from their weird optics that leaves it unclear where exactly those are supposed to be pointed at, I'd say that they are among very few units in DoW that look like an infantry unit at all, if anything, so here's that.

But 40k is about Space and evil old men trying to rule the galaxy! It is no place for man things. Anyway, looking their current art, it is hard to tell where their eyes are facing, they look to be mounted on the sides of their head.
