Why don't we include the option to choose what race you are, and only randomize heroes?
Or, for random players, random race, but you can choose what hero you have for each race ahead of time.
Thoughts?

Dunno if it's possible but it would be nice actually. In an ideal world I'de be able to plug in certain heroes into a lottery of heroes, so say the mekboy, farseer and warp spider exarch and then when I hit random it randomly chooses between the heroes I plugged in/selected...

Whether it's worth the effort even if it is possible I dunno...

Why not random them out of the dow2 application using a tool / script. Comes with the same result other than that you know your randomed hero before you start the game. Having your opponent not know your race should only be rewarded for going full random imho.

Maybe a bit too similar to table top 40k but why not roll a dice and let it pick a hero then you select it. Job done

Why all this negativity?

It's a good idea, and if it is easy to do and somebody can, add it.
I'm sure at least a couple of pros will love it.

Why not?

Just get on coding it. It's not like we would lose anything from getting a feature.

I don't think anyone is really really negative.

As Milty says we can just go for something out of game, but if it can work in game, make it happen, it means I can reliably go random, if there is such a thing as reliably random results.
