Merging of Skins

Hey,
I recently figured out how to change the color scheme of the elite skins by going into the corresponding file.
Is there a way to edit an elite mod skin in such a way that it uses a different model for one unit (or multiple);
for instance using the Iron Warriors Plague Champion model together with the other models from let's say World Eaters ?
I'm not an expert but seems to me that this should work somehow since it's just another model in the version everyone is running.
Is it possible ? If so, what file do I need to alter ?
