Future Patch - Expanded voice-lines (Preview)

Whilst not original new voice-lines, I'm looking into broadening the overall voice-lines that exist within the game and make it less repetetive and more immersive when you're playing.

If you have a specific line and can name the time it's played and under what circumstances, please post them here.

For ex. Youtube Retribution Quotes and post timestamps 13:37 (And what is said) and when they should say it. (Bare in mind, keep it as simple requirement as possibly, that would mean - "Upgrade, Attacking, Capture, Captured Point, Reinforced, Bought" etc, and not the ones that are the following;

"Eldar approach from the left", and alike - That is probably more of a hassle, and possibly even too difficult to implement. But I'll leave that to our dedicated coders/modders to answer for;

So far, we've given the Artillery Spotters I believe, 6 brand new voice-lines. (They are used from within the game itself)

Here are some of the potentially upcoming and new ones;

Space Marines

Tactical Space Marines
- Charge! (Using melee)
- Death to the enemy! (Attacking)
- Hold Position, overwatch (Halt Movement/Stop)
- We need cover! (Low on health)

- Tactical Marines, forward (Moving)
- Slaughter the Traitors! (Attacking Chaos Space Marines)
- No Fear Brothers, for the Emperor! (Getting attacked)
- Disperse Brothers (Attacked by Artillery unit)
- Watch that Kommando, he shall strike again. (Seeing Kommando nob infiltrate?)

- No! You will pay dearly for my brothers life! (Losing a model)
- Push them back Brothers! (Attacking unit?)

Sternguard
- Brothers, push them back! (Attacking unit?)

So, could Grey Knights get their "own" lines, or are they tied to SMs?

Unless you can find lines that are appropiate for them, then the unfortunate answer is no. :(

Please tell which ones so I can rule them out.

- Slaughter the Traitors! (Attacking Chaos Space Marines) attacking chaos in general

- I grow more accustomed to this new form (Dark age of Technology upgraded) level up
- I feel his touch upon me (Dark age of Technology upgraded) level up

- We are Chaos incarnate! (Select unit when under fire) attacking unit?
- Blood for the Blood god! (Mark of Khorne upgrade + enemy killed) killed unit when low hp or in battle with low hp, not sure

Again off the top of my head. A few more I'm unsure of because I've listened to the youtubez lines so often :ugeek:

Idk how you will be able to put this in. But when a Chaos Space Marine has some type of plasma weapon and are attacking Loyalist they'll say...

"I know you hate the searing heat of plasma brother, I CAN FEEL IT!"

Might it be possible to use these lines for Artillery Spotters when calling in a shell?

Regarding GK.
Maybe Grey Knight Purgation Squads could use these lines a bit more freely, or atleast when using their supression ability.

"Purge the Enemy!"

We already got the Artillery Spotter voicelines active, they've got some more diversity between them now. So they're in a good spot.

Isn't some one working on a Vostroyans "DLC"? I know the LG has a line or two associated with them. Only problem is, I don't think you could figure out how to have it talk about them when some one has selected that particular skin...

Well... I wanted to link a youtube video, but no more exist of the LG's lines... And I can't find the place where I could use an extractor for the sga and a player to play them to try and upload said quotes. I had them on my previous PC before it crashed. It was probably too difficult of an addition.

So for a more simple suggestion:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjnmqfT ... u.be&t=39s
You can hear the Veteran Storm Trooper squad saying "This is the right equipment for the job." after getting their melta guns. I guess you could use that for Kasrkins receiving wargear.

EDIT: I'm not entirely sure, but I think the game currently does not use quotes for when enemies inside of a garrison are killed. Here are two for the Plague Champ:

and 3 for SM Tacticals:

I like this line diversity, but I have one complaint, the line for the Merciless Witchblade, if it is the one I am thinking of ("Draw the Warlock's Witchblade, the time for mercy has long since passed") then I would much rather hear that line. If I am wrong about which weapon it is, just disregard this, but if I am correct, I just think that that line is better than what you proposed, maybe tie it to another weapon?

I also got very excited when I saw new voices, thinking new voice acting. Still, this is much better than nothing.

Uhm there are some great voice lines for GK out there. All you have to do is asking the Inquisition Daemonhunt moders for permission to use them. Maybe there are some technical barriers but at least no legal since they made them by their own.

When I was looking through the Plague Champion's lines ages ago, I thought I found many that were never used. Turns out though that the majority of them are already in the game, you just very very rarely hear them for one reason or another.

Is it because they occur at random intervals or that they require some sort of trigger?

They're sometimes ambient, or require a certain trigger - such as low on health pool and alike, that's when the rare ones pop up. Normally people panick when they're low on health and bail out rather than keep themselves on the field at that stage.

Ah, Ic. Thanks for telling me that. Any idea how to know whether or not the voices are implemented or not? Cause my only worry is if there are 2 of the same voice lines inserted for the same unit, it will cause some sort of unforeseen error.

Or I could just be paranoid :p

They're probably just bound to shout that speaking voiceline more commonly. Adding voices is doable. Altho, it would be for the best if we could figure out if a specific line is already being said, so it's not added in again to cause like you said- repetetive lines.

Could you fix Krieg being used when using the LC? ^^ Would be much appreciated.
The sound is very annoying :D

I worked as a sound engineer and i have all the equipment.
If you need some custom lines for a new unit maybe i can help.

adding new custom voice-lines is still an uncertain subject. I can't really say much about it, I'm not that familliar with how it works.

If it is doable I am sure there will be many who want to help. It would be quality control that is the hardest.

Was there any progress to this? What lines have you guys decided to add?

Added voice-lines for the spotters for now. I'm doing abit of a compilation of voice-lines to send through to the guys who can add it all in.

It takes a good hour or so to listen through each units voice-lines, assuming they're available on youtube. Then I have to re-listen to the specific line to remember it, and add to which specific-trigger it's meant to be played.

Some voice-lines for units are as long as 40 minute (divided into 2 parts) meaning it can take me a good hour to more to just document some propositions for just >1< unit. And there's plentiful of units to go through, so it's a long and tedious proceedure.

Since this is not my sole indended role, since I'm going through internal playtesting, balancing and drafting upcoming projects/patches. I'm putting my whole free-time to this, it's alot of undertaking. Then we've got the whole implementation to do, which can take quite some time as well.

It's a gradual implementation, we most likely can't get in a whole lot in just one-go, unless we somehow accomplish a miracle. So it'll be gradually implemented as we go on.

Maybe I'm a little simple but I'd recommend to insist in the thing that work. Elite is doing really good without new voice lines, and who knows what crash problems can come messing with an aditional front of the game mod.

Simple? You suggest a new unit idea every couple days, if not every day. The lines are already done by the game developers and voice actors themselves and are already in the code.

Yes, because the new units work really good in Elite. Dark Reapers, Raptors, the whole Grey Knight faction and so on, those are things that have been implemented without mayor bugs by now. Messing with the voices is a new front to attack.

If you say it's as easy as that, then great, I was just concerned about the appearance of a new set of bugs

I don't think you can separate need from want. Helios has a point here.

Those flames are the insults of players as the vindicare dodges a game with the camo crash.

I'm just going to have to give my 2 cents and say that bugs are much more likely to occur with the implementation of new mechanics/units then it would be to reimplement voice lines that happen to be already packaged within the game itself.

Edit:
How ironic that I just read the vindicare has been patched and will be safe to camo in the next update. Nonetheless, that bug was around for quite a bit and I'm presuming it was a bit vexing to solve at first. So my argument still stands :p
