Complete List of Unique Sync Kills

The following is a list of unique sync kills that take place in DOW2 for all races.

If a unit requires a weapon upgrade or something of that sort, that is given in the description.

there really aren't very many compared to dow1. probably a good thing though... oh, wait, those are the ones currently in the game as opposed to all the ones vanilla had, right?

Asm with power sword against a carnifex does the same sync kill as the fc with power sword.

Sometimes, I wish the Commissar Lord had a sync kill where he got a unit to his knees in defeat and as the unit looks up, the commissar lord executes them in the head with his laspistol. It would be a very commissar-esque finish, but alas, no such thing from my understanding ):

They are just normal synch kills as far as I know.

Can we remove all sync kills for only 1 beta and see how this will change game ?
It`s fucking frustrating that u cant do any damage to unit performing this.
You can`t retreat u hero when he`s killing last squad memeber and waiting to be surrended by banshees...
Sync kills should be designed in different way.
I know we can`t edit current ones or add new, i also know that they look amazing in the middle of war, but this mod claim to be most balanced DOW2 mod ever and things such as sync kills, special attacks and other ruining it :/

They are part of DoW2 but I wouldn't mind a change to them. I would like for the synch kill to be broken of immediately if the retreat button is pressed. Idc how stupid it may look. Better this than having your units die to something you have 0 control over.

Well we could make sync-killing units immune to damage, instead of the current 90% and immortality.

Can`t we just stop talking how change sync-kills and actually remove all of them (mayby expect GUO and Avatar) just for ONE beta build ? Let`s see how this affect gameplay and balance :]

Of course it brings randomness into the game. But that is what this game about. Squad system is also random. Sometimes you lose models and sometimes you don't. It is ok as long as you are not going to make this game a cyber discipline

I feel that a discussion on whether or not eliminate sync kills doesn't really belong on this thread.

@Pandemic
I am not aware of any unique sync kills of a chainsword unit.

@Maxpower

I'll take your word for it, since I don't feel like testing a melee unit that does 4.5 dps to vehicles against a fex.


To those curious: yes there were a ton of unique sync kills in DOW1. Some of them weren't even between big stompy units. Pariahs (elite T3 Necron melee squad) had special sync kills vs. the farseer and the chaos sorc.
Some of the bigger ones were well done (Bloodthirster vs. Avatar of Khaine) but others were very buggy
example: the demon prince was supposed to have a sync kill vs. the living saint, but actually only performed the animation when killing the farseer.

I used to play strategy games wishing they had more personality in them... Then came out DOW with its bloody combat and special finishing moves(sync kills). I never looked at a strategy game the same way again. It made me interested in the whole warhammer universe, and 4+ years later i still occasionaly play elite. So i understand some balance concerns some have and experienced them myself but when i see my wraithlord stabbing the SM inside a dread and just pushing it down im always like man, fuck that wipe 5 mins ago this was epic! :D

If you want sync-kills removed then why the *!#& are you still playing DOW? Go play SC2 or something. Why don't we just remove special attacks completely, all sync-kills, and allow you to target individual models in squads?

Because DoW2 is a totally different game from SC2? and Synch kills aren't exactly necessary. Your train of thought here makes no sense at all. :/

If you haven't got used to sync-kills by now after playing dawn of war for sooooo many years then what the heck? Sync kills grant benefits and drawbacks in fights depending on the scenario and are just something to factor in when playing DOW. This is just like the whole melee skill/specials thing and the random nature of model death/targetting. None of these things are in principle necessary, but at this point, years into the game they're pretty fundamental to it and changing them now would be absolutely retarded. If you want proper balance go play another RTS, like Company of Heroes.

keep the sync kills. they are awesome and to me a big part of the game. its once in a great while that a sync kill gets me mad. and never enough to stop playing the game.
