Hi guys - I'm trying to install Elite. I've downloaded the beta 10 and beta 11 files (as per the forum post). I ran the beta 10 file and then the beta 11 file and both purported to install correctly. When I click on the icon on my desktop I get a steam dialogue saying "Preparing to launch Warhammer® 40,000™: Dawn of War® II - Retribution™...". Steam is launched in a minimised mode and the news feed comes up but nothing else happens.
I do wonder whether it is because my steam games, including DoW:R, are installed on a different HD to steam/windows - I've installed the games on my E: drive (a 1TB HD) whereas windows and steam are on my C: drive (a 120GB SSD).
Any ideas?
Installation on different HD
Re: Installation on different HD
I'm guessing you didn't give the correct path to the installer. Go into steam -> library, right click "Warhammer® 40,000™: Dawn of War® II - Retribution™" and select properties -> browse local files. Make sure you see Elite_beta/ and Elite_beta.module here, if not install again and supply this path.

Re: Installation on different HD
if steam is not installed on the same drive as ret then the installer will screw up. you just need to change the path when installing for it to work.
you also need to run retail once before elite.

Re: Installation on different HD
So, my original installation was on the C drive. I've re-run the two installers (beta 10 then beta 11) pointing them to my E drive. I now have the following files...
C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/dawn of war ii - retribution contains two subfolders - "Elite_beta" and "GameAssets" and the file "Elite_beta.module". In total these two subfolders (and the one file at the root) contain 1.32gb of data over 4,548 files in 804 folders.
E:/Games/steamapps/common/Dawn of War II - Retribution. In that folder is a subfolder called "DOW2-ELITE" which has exactly the same files.
If I browse the local files using the option in the Steam app, it now opens the E route, although the files on the C: drive remain.
I've opened the game in steam (played several games in fact) but when I try opening the Elite mod by using the desktop shortcut it just gives the message I quotes in the first post (which goes away after a fraction of a second) and loads the steam app. Nothing else happens.
Please help!?!

Move to E:/Games/steamapps/common/Dawn of War II - Retribution/. Done.

Re: Installation on different HD
yeah, all the elite stuff should be dumped into the main ret folder.
