Wonder if anyone have any interests/experience modding SP

The Heretek Cabal forum has been dead for sometime, and most of their posts are archived now. I hope the talented modders here might have enjoyed the SP campaign in both DOWII+CR and Retribution to maybe have tried modding around with it a little.

While I really enjoy some of the older mods such Squad Mod and Wrath of the Blood Ravens (which is I think the only SP mod that's still being maintained), I have come to appreciate the campaign for what it is as well. I finally beat Primarch the other day in DOWII+CR and it felt very satisfying with my team of FC, Tarkus, Avitus, and Cyrus. But I think what will really add a lot to the campaign is a mod that let's one deploy 5 squads per map (or even 6 for CR) so you can really utilize some very powerful tactics and ability combinations. I know it's possible to have more than 4 squads deployed because that was the case for the last mission in DOWII. Lastly, I'd also love to know if there's a way to edit the number of skillpoints granted per level up, from 2 to 3. Even with just these two small changes: 5 squads deployable, and 3 skillpoints per level up will open up whole new possibilities for the campaign. This really is a great game and I've never played one like it. While I enjoy the MP too, I must say with brutal honesty that I suck. Just can't micro well enough against real players. I still play though, and it's very fun to watch, so thanks modders for making the Elite mod.

And apologies to the mods if this is off-topic. This is honestly the best forum I can think of to still ask modding related questions, given how active the Elite community is. So I hope this question will be okay.

The issue with changing the amount of squads that can be deployed is the UI. It's hard coded into game and you'd have to find a way around that for it to be in every mission. It would probably have to be that every squad is deployed in every mission, because most likely, that action in the final mission is done through SCAR code. So you'd have to edit the SCAR code for every mission to deploy all of your squads. I've never looked for the scar files responsible for this, so it might be slightly off.

No idea if it's possible to change the leveling system.

But it is definitely possible to change the abilities and wargears and such. It would be a similar process used for the multiplayer.

omg wise windu, I watch replays of you all the time, and that one time in a 3v3 you rekt bass that was sick

anyway yes I think it's possible to edit skillpoints upon level up, as in DeusImperator's mod I mentioned you get 4 points per level.

and as far as squad deployment, I don't think UI issues will be a hinderance . every squad is automatically hotkeyed anyway, and even if they're not you can just do it when they deploy. the issue seems to be though that each drop pod only deploys at max 4 squads, from what I can tell.

it'd be interesting though to see how the last mission works and how one might be able to get more than 4 squads on the map. in CR it's possible too, in the defend capital spire mission where you get 2 more imperial guard squads. so the gist seems to be it's possible to play with and control more than 4 squads, but getting them deployed seems to be the real problem.

Ah, okay. I'd have to take a look at that to see how he does it then.

Yep, once they're deployed, there wouldn't be a problem I think.
