Shotguns of scouts

I used to believe that the damage is dependent on the range but then recently I read here that it wasn't. And now I am confused because http://www.dawnofwar.info/elite/weapon. ... sm_shotgun this link says me otherwise again. How is that in reality?

The table confirms this.
The range of the weapon is 0-26 and does 30 damage.
On short (range 8) it does 100% (1) of that 30 damage.
On medium (range 13) it does 85% (0.85) of the 30 damage and so on.

What is weird though is that distant and long are determined by the same range and yet have different damage modifiers for them.
Probably just an error, long should be a shorter range than 26 most likely.

When you have two modifiers that share the same number. (For an ex. when we tinkered with the Chaos Dreadnought AoE modifier) there's bound to be inconsistency in their damage. Or, cause alot of confusion.

Now, tech gurus work with me and correct me.

Damage modifiers are as currently -

FROM range 0-8 the modifier is 1.0
FROM frange 9-13 the modifier is 0.85
FROM range 14-26 the modifier is 0.7 OR 0.5

the last part is the most confusing and god damn mindboggling, because I honestly have no idea which modifier it picks, or if it's completely random. There are several weapons I believe, that have these confusing modifiers that cause alot of inconsistency, but I dunno for sure how it actually works 100%.

Yeah, it might have been originally that the ranges were different, and the damage multipliers accounted for that. But then a change was made to them, and the damage modifiers were forgotten. I dunno though. Will probably go through at some point and fix those up.

Where was it said that Scout Shotguns don't do damage based on distance? It was mentioned somewhere that Operative shotguns don't, but I can't remember seeing anything about that with Scouts.
