Tyranid infestation tower thingies

At the moment they are:

Too cheap
Too spammable
have way too much hp for cost


Something needs to go.

werent they nerfed? I think you get like triple XP from them.

They dont seem bad when I face them or use them. What happened to make you think so?

And they can spam up spore mines/rippers, if setup teams or wraithguards were somehow viable vs nids they aren't anymore.

Make sure you shoot them whenever you seem them.

Wouldn't mind making them cost more red, or even a small build time, so they don't just pop out of the ground.

Everytime i play nid i can't see why should i save my red for a tyrannoformation instead of going for infestation tower spam. i guess 50 red per tower is a good start? and maybe also make tyrannoformation not suck to force a tactical choice from the player?

They give your opponent ALOT of red on death. U have to be carfull to use them in places u stand a good chance of holding.

Evreything elce is great about them. OP or UP ? i don't think ether thare in a good spot, if anything a tad more red to use 1

my beef with them is how they have no build time. if you're being chased by tyranids, then BOOM, INFESTATION TOWER AND ALL THAT SYNAPSE GOODNESS + SPEED BUFF and now you have a dead squad.

I think Thong is on to something here. A 5 second build time would balance them greatly I think.

I'll def second that part. For all the attempted buffs, tyraniformation is awkward to use and hard to get the benefits from. I'm glad nids now have ways to spend lots of Red. Towers upped to 50 would be fine, though it would force the mental comparison to Webway gates. Increased build time sounds fine too.

comparing the towers to the god awful tyranid global is unfair , the nuke is barely worth 300 red , let alone 500 .


Its the only nuke that is still more or less a waste of resources , As a nid will use every other global before it.

So it is most certainly NOT the capillary tower global that is keeping people from using the nuke .

Back on point , the towers could use a cost bump to 40 red from 35 and health reduction of 50.
but you must keep in mind that they are nowhere near as unforgivably op as eldar web ways.

And they only stay alive if the nids stay around them. force nids off the field or attack an area they arent in to clear the towers.

spores are rippers arent nearly as exploitable in t2 as they would be in t1 , plus there is a delay from when you build the spores/ rippers to when they spawn , and i believe one volly from a wraith guard will kill a tower .

frankly speaking , I wouldn't worry about rippers ruining your wraith guard's day, the average nid will have plenty of other more potent melee units to ruing your life. Rippers just eat up pop cap.

no no A THOUSAND TIMES NO

they arent ravener tunnels which are free , they cost red to place , you cant expect something that costs resources to blow up because a unit you get in t1 can bump into it.

Imagine ig sentinel whores just walking all over map bleeding your red dry for no cost on their part

yes riku if you create the optimal situation for it , yes it can do wonders, but all an ork needs to do to kill an entire army with roks is barf on them .

the difference in ease of use between tyranoformation and the other globals is mind numbing

i'm pretty sure riku is refering to the range damage synapse that only tyranoform towers give. But even then, those towers are crushable so is pretty easy to get rid of them

500 red for an unreliable damage and a static aoe synapse that can easily be negated? Yeah I am still not seeing the 500 price tag being justified.

i agree with you, i did also say tyranoform is pretty weak compared to t2 towers spam. But not everybody knows those towers do give a unique synapse

Static synapse that is actually pretty strong (basic synapse + capillary synapse, which is 15% less recieved damage and 15% damage buff). Tower spam will probably be more useful due to the map presence it gives but Nid nuke is pretty decent in Elite.

What Nurland said and the global also buff nearby Nids when called in and it instakills any structure.

Yes... You can crush them. You just have to rout the enemy first to do that.

Tyranoformation is just as situational as Eldritch. It has the unique ability to OS buildings which can be very effective. We could increase tower's hp but not the damage.

The comparison to Rokz is stupid. Let alone Rokz are easy to avoid.

Only RR is 100% of the time deadly.

@kvek: I did the test, it's strange. I did crush it with my carnifex once for sure.

How many updates ago? At first they were crushable. Now infestation towers are not.
