Elite VS Retail / How to make retail people to play Elite?

I don't even advocate Retail but I actually went back to it because you know what, having to go through several custom game lobbies where random dicks on the internet decide you are not worthy of playing with them and kick you out unceremoniously until you actually end up in a game to play only to find out that your teammate does not know how to retreat is a waste of time I can not put up with anymore, so I am back to relying on Relic matchmaking, which isn't much to write home about but still is something.

In the meantime, the Elite community have to stop being elitist supreme dicks (and you know what, maybe even rename the goddamn mod, Elite is such a stupid name for it if it's supposedly trying to get the userbase to adopt) and just learn to enjoy playing with strangers.

People really need to accept that the mod isn't just for everyone, and stop looking down on the people who prefer retail. It's all a matter of preference, and that's perfectly acceptable. Coming across like an elitist jerk doesn't do any good for the community.

The name itself, I'll agree, isn't probably the most ideal - but there's no way to change the group name, and it's somewhat already established. Much to my regret, it's not neccassarily the best course of action to change the name now, it might just confuse people as a result.

I'd say, just compliment the mod the best you can, and tell them to give it a try. If they don't like, don't try to bash "sense" (and yes, I'm using "sense" somewhat ironically) in them, because it's pretty hard to convience people otherwise when they've had a bad first impression of it. The first impression, or game in general is the one that will dictate weither or not they will enjoy the gameplay experience.

As for getting kicked out, this may be because of several reasons;
- Relic has yet to attend to fix the private matches, so public lobbies aren't neccassarily "public", and some people just don't want to give their reasoning for kicking you out, or tell you to leave the lobby. And I've seen quite alot of those cases, and it honestly just pisses me off whenever I do see it. Or in some scenarios, where they think your are "bad", then they're actually not. Or just have bad blood between the players. I think it's all ridicilous, and funny how people just can't seem to find common ground over a video game.

Yeah, you are right Caeltos and I am not trying to force people to play Elite.

Just that what I don't understand is why would someone be so hostile about me advertising elite. It is not like I am saying you must play Elite or you will die or sth along that line. I am just saying here is the link why don't you try? Funny thing is I am not even spamming the message to cover up the whole general chat space. I never try to push away conversations going on between players in that room because I know it's rude thing to do. I am not doing any harm to them and they wanna smack me in the face saying bunch of vulgar nonsense.

Frankly speaking, I really don't care about those types of people. They are everywhere anyways but I really just wanted to make my position clear.

By the way, I was very surprised about the fact that many people never even heard of Elite or seen a glimpse of it. And people those who got intrigued by my ads were very pleased to hear my explanations to know more. Feels so good when I can explain it to them and they give a try
