the textures are not mipmaped. easy to fix but someone has to take the time to do so.

Could explain why the Whirlwind launchers are always black to me :/

If you guys write me a list with all messed up textures I can fix it in one afternoon.

I have the same problem the textures of dark reapers.
I think its not a graphics settings problem.

I use 32bit system,1920 *1080 the all setting is high.

Same problem here. I expect it to be fixed every new patch release...

it is; they probably only have textures for the highest setting, which, iirc, only works on 64bit systems.

My friends didn't notice this, because they thought the dark reapers should be Dark.

Just had to re install my computer, and now trying to re install elite mod but it won't start up once installed.

I installed retribution in my folder D/SteamLibrary/SteamApps/commen/Dawn of War II - Retribution

When installing the mod it goes automatically to C programfiles etc...
I first tried to install to C station, wanted to boot it up. didn't work only opened the window for steam where it says it's preparing to start the game up. Never happens

Oke so I decided to install it at D/ ...... /commen/ Dawn of War II - Retribution
So it's in the same place as where I installed it with Steam.

Tried it again.
Same problem.
and it's starting to piss me off how complicated this suddenly became.

Normal Retribution worksfine.
Tried watching how to install vids on youtube. all seem out of date and says to go to the website.
on website it says basically to run the installer.

any ideas on how to fix this ?

I completely reinstalled retribution and Elite mod, and now it works.
Don't know why but it works at least.

I just installed the beta as Belutima above.

I also changed the launch properties in steam to -nomovies -modname ELITE -dev

When I try to launch it from steam it says it's going to launch but never does. However I can just launch the beta from the desktop icon... this seems to work, although I'm not sure if I'm actually able to access the steam community when I launch the game this way.

Related to that; I had a look at what public games were available. There was only one. It was a little late and in Western Canada. Are most of the players in the UK? Does the game still have a lot of active players and newcomers like me?

You can't see private games or games that are already in progress.
Keep that in mind.

From my experience most players are European. Some are east coast and some are west coast. When I get home at 5pm PST in the United states I see 2-3 public games of varying types up. Some days more some days less. As riku has stated though some games are private and so this number is skewed

Thanks for the replies. It seems that there is a little bit of a movement on the steam group for getting games up for noobs. The steam group also talks about using the steam group chat in order to get games up and running. Has anyone had much experience with that?

Finally to get back on topic I've heard that changing the launch code
from

-nomovies -modname ELITE -dev

to

-nomovies -modname Elite_beta -dev

solves the problem of the game not launching from steam. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I plan to test it when I get home.

Definatly, yes. very helpful.

if you haven't been using the steam chat group that is one huge reason. Many people idle in there hoping someone else will advertise their game is up or be invited randomly. I know I randomly invite from the group and people join almost instantly.

Beginner group, I tend to host games quite a bit, but with no real structure to when I host.

It's safer just to use the shortcut it creates.
It has the following info in it's target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 56400 -nomovies -modname Elite_beta -dev

Option number 2 should be the one to use. SInce the latest version is a "beta" version.

yeah, that works. elite just points to the non-beta version, which is like 3 months old at this point.

Don't put it on the shortcut, put it in your Steam Library launch options for Ret.

well now thats a whole new can a worms there, when i go to my steam ret property's it dont even give me the launch option ? Is it because my a third party and not activated through steam

Ok I just verified the problem is that DoW2 ret is under a non steam game since I lost my serial key but already had the game on my laptop prior to ever installing Steam. Well since that whats preventing me from adding launch options I got to figure out how to do that and I should be able to do then if it works Ill post up the links to pages with the instructions incase someone else has the same issue

Huh? Ret cannot exist without being tied to a Steam account. It requires it. It can't be a "non-Steam" game.

i m using cracked version the 1 having doth dow 2 ret i cant use steam and i dont have any folders in steam so some how i camn bring up the console by adding -dev in properties and target folder and since i have the cracked version i cant even add it in steam list i hav to add it as a non steam game the only directory i hav is the 1 where the game is and not in steam if camn could any 1 plz tell me how to use the mod in the cracked version i m using it vil b great help as i am going frustriated finding out solutions

And yes I already had the "bloody game " on my table top computer but with Steam you can only use on serial key per game and I'm not about to pay another 30 bucks for a new serial key on a game I already own but is installed in another computer

Then you can either
A) Wait for Steam Summer Sale
B)Hope someone can solve the issue
C)Find a way to get that computer back

This might quickly reach a dead-end but have you tried asking Steam support to get a new key etc?

Steam accounts are not tied to computers. Just login to the same Steam account on your current computer and the game will be there for you. If you actually did buy it this shouldn't be an issue.

If you really haven't bought it then shame on you really. Ret has been -75% off multiple times and is a great game. You could not buy a meal for the price it has been multiple times now.

Wow were really going to have to go into this shit aren't we if that were true then when added Soulstorm through its disc to this computer why the hell did it tell me that the serial key I was using was registered on another computer Ditto as well with DoW2 ret what this has to do with a simple mod installation issue I have no idea.
